Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of March (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have March ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in March, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Hello fellow mom's. I haven't posted on this discussion board yet. My daughter leaves March 20th for bootcamp. She will be going in as an Airman. She received a call on Oct. 20th with an offer to leave by the end of the month. She was at work and couldn't answer her cell phone. By the time she was on break and could call back, they had already filled it. She was really upset that she didn't get to leave early but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The same day she missed the call, her Great Grandpa Jay died and she wouldn't have been able to attend his memorial service. Also, about 2 weeks later, her Grandpa Charles (my step-father) had a major heart attack and was hospitalized.

The draw back to such a long wait is the "cold feet" thing. She had an episode of that this week but was better after talking with her recruiter about her concerns. Losing Grandpa Jay and Grandpa Charles having a health crises so soon after really freaked her out and she was worried that if something happened to her Grandpa, she wouldn't be able to attend his funeral.

I see all the posts on here about this being a roller coaster ride. It sure is! One part of me wants her to be able to leave and get started with this new phase in her life (& to get away from her loser boyfriend, lol), and the other part of me isn't ready to let go of my baby girl.

Hi new to this site, my son is in deps we live in Scottsdale AZ. He has been in for a month or so signed up undesignated. Just received the call today a job in logistics opened and he took it so has a ship out date of March 1. We are all looking forward to all the exciting things to come!

Nancy you are not a wack job! We were all in your spot and felt the same way.  If you were to go back and read our posts you will see we discussed a bubble for them to live in.  My biggest suggestion is just talk to your son about doing things that are on the dangerous side and make sure he understands if he becomes injured the Navy could withdraw their offer or delay his entry even longer.  I know my sons recruiter talked with him about this and the closer his date got the more they encouraged him to lay low. Be assured you are not crazy...in fact my son had a friend that was signed up waiting to leave had an accident skiing (or sleding) and his chance was lost.  and because your son is who he is my last suggestion is be like I was and just say a quick prayer every time he leaves the house!

Hi Robsmom and Nancy -- I'm one of the moms from last year, just thought I'd pop in and see what's up. Good luck!
