Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of March (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have March ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in March, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

@Tracie. Thank you so much. At the time being I am a police officer and well it was me always working and my husband going to school and our daughter always with him. Now it will be the other way around. Once we get our base that we will be shipped off to I will be taking care of our daughter and he will be working. Today has been hard. Small tears here and there telling our 3 year old that dada is on a mission to save us from the mean bad sugar monster that like to rot kids teeth and make them sleepy and he will be home in a few weeks. I just never thought I would have been this caught up thought I was stronger and sometiems I feel like I failed because I cried but this is good for us no matter how much of my family is unhappy with this. Thank you again tracie

@Michael, I have changed my username I am now Tracie(was jacobsmom).  I just wanted to let you know that I have been thinking of you all day.  My husband is a Deputy US Marshal and when he first started his job he had to goto a boot camp/training academy for 17 weeks.  I remember the day he left. At the time our children were 5th and 2nd graders, it was extremly hard for the first week, maybe 2?  Once the kids and I established the new normal it was better. We didn't see him for several weeks because his schooling was M-S 7a-5:30p.  I had to remind myself daily that this was to better our lives and it was only for a season of time.  I have been reminding myself here lately that my son leaving is like he is going to college.  Somedays it's very easy and other days (mainly the weekends) it's really hard. In a few short weeks I will be feeling like you.  I hope it gets better for you, I feel like it will. Let me know how things are in a few days.

Well my husband was dropped off today and yes I cried when he took his oath lard like a dumb baby. Then a hour and 30 minutes later he called me and told me he made it to Great Lakes and I cried again. I was told he won't here from me for at least 3 weeks. God that's so long. I hope they let him call on his birthday so I can just say happy birthday. This is a lot harder then I thought never thought I would feel like I do. Well this is for us. I hope others are doing ok

@jacobsmom. Hey well this is me and my husbands last few days and we are spending it with my mother in law (his mother and father) it's going so well. It's the first time his father got to meet our daughter as he was against our marriage and it's going well. I could not be happier. I don't sleep much as I k ow he leaves in 2 days. But hey it's for the better and he loves his dreams. Do things with your son something special. Like a movie out night with him or something so you two have something to remember.

If you have a future Sailor who is going to be in an 800 division, let me know in a comment on my My Page or in a PM (or comment in a friend request) and I will connect you with others with loved ones who will later be in the same division. DON'T openly post your future Sailor's contract or division number. Those with a future Sailor (or recruit) in a regular division or 900 division can post the division number and can post the contracted rating or field unless it is for one of the Spook ratings, but those with a loved one with a special ops contract should NEVER post that openly. See OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and 800 and 900 Divisions.

I have left info on some of your My Pages about your recruit's (or future Sailor's) rating (job/specialty) and "A" School. If anyone else needs this info, leave a comment on my My Page with the rating or field and I will comment back on your My Page. I have info on every rating and field. I also have that info for the PACT programs.

My son goes to MEPS 3/28, I guess his actual departure date is 3/29. Michael, I also find myself feeling sad when I'm not busy. The weekends seem to be hard. I know as the day gets closer I will become more emotional. I want to be strong too, this will be a good thing for him, however, he is still my little boy. I was hoping to connect with others feeling the same way. I will be thinking of you next week!

Hello everyone, well my husband leaves in 4 days on March 7th to Meps Then the Morning of March 8th he takes his final Oath until he leaves that day later down to boot camp. I find myself crying a little more each day when I am alone as I will miss him. Its hard to do because my 3 year old daughter sees me cry sometimes and she always comes up and say its ok and kisses me. I need to be strong as  this is a good thing for us and his dream. Anyone else dealing with this.

If your future Sailor has yet to ship, be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for....

If you have not yet joined Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), now is a good time to do so (especially if you have a recruit at the RTC) and to begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) starting with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (some of you have changes that you need to make--at least change 3; make change 4 if your profile pic includes your future Sailor or recruit) and then go on to Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.
