Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of May (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have May ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in May, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Thanks, Angie. Yes, I would love to stay in touch with you. Do you mind if I "friend" you? I know you were a lifesaver for Jessica. My son is in his 1st week of "indoc" at his 1st duty station. He is driving me CRAZY! UGH! Phone calls and texts in a flurry sometimes....and in the midst of it all, he bought a car up there jthe day after he arrived, ust to add to all of the confusion! :-( So, yes, absolutely...I would like to reach out to you. HA! I have to say...he had planned on buying the car, saved his money for it (sold his older car before bc), but the timing was a BIT off with all else going on. Couldn't he have waited at least a couple of weeks? I think he was in a hurry because of where he is...not a good area and not safe to walk around in. The car is his ticket to get out of there on the weekends. And I was proud of him for getting such a great deal on it too! YEAH!! Since he wants to be registered in his home state with it, I am kind of in the middle of getting that done. And I live in Miami...a city that is not so friendly when it comes to getting "help!" Had that experience this morning...I just kept smiling and saying thank you in the tag agency hoping for a smile or something. I settled for an "ok" from the reluctant girl assisting me :-) I am definitely reaching UP to others for my own help, as I reach back here to help others, as you are doing. I am excited for all of these moms! Because this truly is a great adventure....well, MOST of the time! HA! Thanks, Angie!

JLC: You will find lots of single moms on the N4M's site. I am one myself (widow). I am proud to call so many of the moms on here "my friends" because of the wonderful help they have given me and continue to give me now that my son is at his first duty station. I am still reaching up to the more experienced moms for help! If I can help any of you in any way through boot camp or A School, please just ask!

Colleen: Make sure you are on boot camp site, if not already. Vent your feelings there, because those moms also are wonderful and can relate. N4M's will be your lifeline during these weeks of little contact. Once you get your form letter (about 2 weeks from now), and know his div/ship #'s and PIR date, you can join/setup a group for that PIR date. THAT will become your primary group of ladies, but still stay on bootcamp. We women are very resourceful and will get you"newbies" through this experience. Just know...A School is a whole lot better! You can stay in touch with them then. So just 8 weeks of boot camp and the sun will shine again!

Great post, ER Nuse! I love the humor that you showed in here, because sometimes if we don't laugh, we will just keep crying!

Hello ladies!! Haven't got all caught up here..but I have to leave a comment for you about to drop them off....
MEPS day is a long emotional day. The not sleeping well the night before..to the butterflies in your stomach. Breath!
Pack your camera...extra batteries just in case..
Tissues...You will need them
Money...Send them off with money in there pocket. Some of them will be at the airports for hours. They will get a meal voucher but give them money for snacks.
Did I mention take pictures. The day will be a blur so you want to be able to look back on them.
Make sure they have a phone card and book of stamps. AND THERE ID (my daughter forgot hers..lucky she called the night before so her recruiter could rush it down)
Some ppl dont take there cell phone with them..I say take it...
Hours of waiting before actually getting to boot camp.. they can text and call you and their friends. Helps with their nerves too. Though that is the bad part to..its like ripping the band aide ( ::: [ ] ::: ) off slowly...you talk...tear up say good bye and they call in 20 mins..and over and over...so by the time you get the "IM HERE AT BOOT CAMP YOU WILL GET A FORM LETTER SOON" Call you are ready for the loony bin!! But CRY let it out...people around you will want to say "He/She is fine" "its a good step for them" "Think about their future" "Don't cry"...I wanted to scream! I know all of those things..I just need to cry

So stay strong mom's, wives and girlfriend...sorry dad's too! It gets better and you will survive.. When you talk to your son's and daughters tell them that as a veteran I am so proud...as an american I am blessed that they decided to serve their country!! Bravo Zulu!!

Kimberly: Talk on here, ok? We are great listeners. Make sure you are on boot camp site too...that is the busiest group of moms. So vent your feelings. You will get replies from moms that feel or felt just like you do. It gets better...you will be in the hard part for about 2 weeks....because of no contact. But it WILL get better. Stay on N4M's, Kimberly. Post whenever you want. Ok....? The moms are here for you! You are NOT alone in your feelings, believe me. Hang in there, Kimberly!
