Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of November (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have November ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in November, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Wow stin, rollercoaster indeed! My son has also been in DEP since last November and now the panic is setting in--for me.

Hello.  My son was suppose to arrive at BC today, but has signed a new contract offer.  Exciting and anxious times right!?   He leaves Nov 26.  Strange because this is his third departure date change.  What a roller coaster we have been on since last November when he was only 17.  Give me strength!  Nice to meet you all.

Good morning everyone, I would like to share something my son sent to me because he "knew I would love it"......and I do! It is a prayer that a mom wrote when her son left for basic training...It says it all....Father- In the coming days, I will need you; but my recruit will need you more. Let him perform his tasks with a sense of duty, not of anger or vengeance. Let his reflexes be quick and his hands be steady. Let his head be clear and his eyes sharp. Let his mind and body be strong and his spirit be stronger. Christ, please stand by my recruit and watch his back when he cannot. Father, I love this recruit of mine! Take from me what he needs and give me what he does not. I will pace the nights if it means he gets some sleep. I will deal with fatigue if it means he will have energy. I will carry his fear if it means he will have courage. I will take his pain if it means he is healthy and whole. I will take his anger if it means he is at peace. Take from me my love and pride and let him feel it. Let him know that I am with him every step of the way. Please take from me what you can; I give it willingly and with love. It is all that I have besides my prayers. Above all, please help my recruit achieve his goal of becoming a United States Sailor! This I ask on bended knee, that which I cannot do without you, Amen.

I had no idea this group existed! My wife leaves the last week of November, so I'm in the same boat. Happy to have Thanksgiving but am going to have a really hard time over Christmas.

My son leaves November 14! SW rate. We've been in DEP since last October when he turned 17 and enlisted days after his birthday. Hard to believe we're so close now.  He still has to increase his speed on his run time. Hoping he can do this!  He wants it so badly.

Hi Folks I would like to reach out to those that are New or maybe the ones who their Loved Ones havent Left as of yet, this site that I am about to post should be read by Your Son/Daughter beforehand. Don't know if the Recruiting office is letting them know what needs to be passed before attending or able to Graduate. So please those whose Loved Ones who havent left yet read along with them and make sure they can pass this beforehand. Many are struggling and if this can be worked on before and passed it will help them when they get here to BC.
