Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of November (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have November ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in November, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

We just got back too! It was great to see Code and he got to spend time with his little brother in the game room, which was nice. We also were encouraged to take pictures! The last hug was most difficult but I held it together more then I thought I would. Kathy - I know what you mean by "he checked out" already. I saw this in Code too. The hardest part was after we walked out the doors and our little guy fell to the floor crying... and then on and off for the 3 hr trip home. Started writing that first letter... now the countdown to PIR!

Kathy, so envious you were able to be there. It sounded wonderful. We weren't allowed in our State. There was a military family there and my son gave them our address so I'm so hoping we get a picture. The last hug is definitely a hard one. Be ready for the last call tonight from camp.

Rebecca, my husband and I are really enjoying your book. Being on our second to boot camp, he keeps saying, "she sounds JUST like us!" Definite read for all. hope our boys are together.

Already wrote my first letter yesterday as well. I am calling the recruiter today to get the address. Definitely keep the letters full of encouragement and good news.

I got my call last night at about 8:50 PM EST. Lasted 32 seconds. I too couldn't sleep well and when I did I dreamt of her. I started writing my first letter to her and at first thought I wouldn't have much to say, but found out I really do. And nothing mushy to make her feel even more homesick. Just light banter but full of entertainment for her. I'm gonna miss her, but I know she's safe and that in itself takes a huge weight off my shoulders! Good luck to all embarking on this new chapter of their lives!

Got the "call" at 12:30am EST, but couldn't sleep the rest of the night. I know all our kids are safe and in the hands of the Navy, but I guess being "mom" I cannot help but worry. The wait for the next call will probably seem like a lifetime, but we can all get through it together. Hope all you're guys/gals arrived at GL safely. They are embarking on the adventure of a lifetime!

Well, our son left yesterday for a day at MEP's and then today was on the bus for several hours today waiting for others at the airport. HE arrived at GL tonight and I got that "I'm here and I'm ok, talk to you in about 3 weeks call" I was so broken up I could hardly talk to him. Tried to tell him be strong and do his the best he could but then was cut off by him saying "Gotta go! " Oh please tell me this is going to get easier cause right now I am not sure. I am so proud of him but I miss him so bad already!
