Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of November (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have November ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in November, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc.Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

At first recruits are only permitted to write during holiday routine on Sunday and later they may be able to write on one or two other days as well (often Tuesday and Thursday) and some Divisions may earn the privilege of writing every day if they are doing really well or if the RDC feels that providing that privilege will boost morale. Letters are put in the mail bag on Sunday and the RMPO mails them on Monday unless Monday is a federal holiday. Any letters written throughout the week won't go in the mail bag until Sunday during holiday routine. Some RDCs permit letters to be placed in the mail bag only on Sunday afternoon with mail going out Monday morning even when they can write on other days and others permit them to put letters in the mail bag on the day they are written for the RMPO to mail the next morning. It is up to the RDC and there does not seem to be a "norm" for this.
Once your recruit can receive mail, Mail Call is every weekday evening (M-F). All mail received at RTC is distributed to the recruits on the same day that it is processed. The division's RMPO distributes the mail to the recruits during Mail Call in their compartments that evening sometime prior to Taps. Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit

Mail goes out on Monday right? I got letters Saturday but I was not sure if because the post offices were closed today if it would be another week to get their mail.

Lisa Ann, hopefully that does end up being his ship and division. Know that there are only three guests for that TG since it is a large TG.

Woohoo SR recruiter let me know he is ship 3/div 80. I’ll wait for the form letter just to be sure but looks like PIR is 1/18. I’m looking forward to seeing him in 7 Friday’s.

Yes you are correct Mary Sue they are at night. I wasn't paying attention when I responded to you. I was just remembering when my son went through BS he called us on a Wednesday as we were walking out the door to head to the airport! Your call should come in on Thursday if he goes through on Wed. - but again, don't worry. They work together in BS to pass everyone. Hang in there!

Mary Sue - yes, it is normal for battle stations to be on Wednesday. They have a lot to get through. Don't worry though, he'll be fine. If you are flying out on Wednesday you might want to change your voice mail on your phone to say something to the effect that "I am on my way to PIR, see you on Friday!". That way if your SR calls while you are in the air and you can't answer he will know you are on your way!

Is it normal for them to have battle stations on the Wednesday of PIR week? I was excited for my call Saturday. But I was a little disappointed when he said his battlestation will be then. I’m leaving the Wednesday night to go so I will be able to pick up my tickets Thursday. His PZiR is January 4th do I know the holiday probably messes things up I dont expect him not to pass but if something was to happen it would be too late to change travel plans I will already be there.
