Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of November (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have November ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in November, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc.Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

My son left Thursday, Nov 5th for Great Lakes. I got the call, still waiting on the box and the form letter. Ready to hear when graduation is so I can make plans.

Our last week also. DS was scheduled to ship the 16th but as of today, it's been moved to the 17th. We did a farewell party yesterday with friends and coworkers - that was nice. He's asked me not to cook an early Thanksgiving dinner as he's close to max weight and doesn't want to risk going over

Well this is my last full week with all of us together. I have had family photos taken, am having our Thanksgiving this coming Sunday and even had a plaster cast of me holding my son's hand back in April. I have ordered a moratorium on fighting and arguing amongst my kids so that we have no ill will when he leaves. I guess the countdown is on...hang in there with me Mommas!!!

Good evening ladies. Hope all are holding it together the best way we can. 7 days from today my baby girl leaves. This is what she has always wanted. She turned down 2 full-ride scholarships to go active. I am so proud of her but at the same time I am falling apart inside. She is only 17 and my only child. I am trying to be strong for her. But as the days get closer the harder it is. We will be having Thanksgiving, Christmas, and her birthday all this week.... Are there any other NC mothers whose loved one leaves this week?

I was able to keep it together until he left but now I'm a hot mess. I did not want him worried about me but I think he knew inside I was a mess because at the end he was giving me permission to cry. He was so adorable. Telling me "you know you are going to cry". It makes me smile now.

Reading through everyone's comments makes me feel a little less stressed. My son is so strong both physically and mentally he is worried about me when he leaves on the 17th and that's the last thing I want! I just keep telling myself I have to hold it all together until after he leaves. Lord help me up til that point. I know he will do amazing things and I am beyond proud of what he's about to do.

My son left on Wednesday, Nov. 4th. He is my youngest son and the last to leave home. This has been his dream since at least his freshman year of high school. I have really been struggling since he left. He will be a third generation Sailor. I could not be more proud. My heart simply aches because he seems so far away.

If your future Sailor has yet to ship, be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for....
If you have not yet joined Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), now is a good time to do so (especially if you have a recruit at the RTC) and to begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) starting with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (some of you have changes that you need to make--at least change 3; make change 4 if your profile pic includes your future Sailor or recruit) and then go on to Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

Tomorrow is the day. My son reports to the recruiting station at 2:00 pm EST and will have his final MEPS before swearing on Monday morning. We will be taking him to report and spending the night so that we can attend the swearing in ceremony in the morning. As proud as I am of him, I praying that I can hold it all together until after he leaves.
