OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of November (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have November ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in November, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc.Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

If you have a future Sailor who is going to be in an 800 division, let me know in a comment on my My Page or in a PM (or comment in a friend request) and I will connect you with others with loved ones who will later be in the same division. DON'T openly post your future Sailor's contract or division number. Those with a future Sailor (or recruit) in a regular division or 900 division can post the division number and can post the contracted rating or field unless it is for one of the Spook ratings, but those with a loved one with a special ops contract should NEVER post that openly. See OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and 800 and 900 Divisions.

jujape, if your recruit does end up in the New Year's Eve TG, he will most likely fly out on the first. The only holidays that new Sailors do not fly on are Thanksgiving and Christmas. SOME, not all, who fly to Pensacola MAY fly out on Saturday due to flight availability issues. It happens for some many weeks due to the large number of new Sailors with "A" School in Pensacola.

If you have not yet joined Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), now is a good time to do so (especially if you have a recruit at the RTC) and to begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) starting with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (some of you have changes that you need to make--at least change 3; make change 4 if your profile pic includes your future Sailor or recruit) and then go on to Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

Our last dinner will be tonight. I'm so anxious. I wish I had someone that understood what I am going through here but I have to say I am glad that you guys know and its comforting to know that mothers out there are going through the same thing as I am and I'm not alone. This is so tough.

It's almost here! We're having a special family dinner tomorrow night because it's my husband's birthday and Brian's last night at home before he leaves for MEPS on Tuesday and boot camp on Wednesday. Brian has requested steaks and mashed potatoes and cake. I'm planning on keeping it upbeat and happy. I don't want my son's last night at home to be sad and depressing. I'll shed a few tears in private. How is everyone else doing?

Just finished our Christmas holiday dinner. He loved it. He loved the food and the presents. I can't believe I found presents he can enjoy now before he left. We took our traditional christmas picture with holiday hats on. It was lovely.

Hi Moms- Just an idea to keep our emotions in check I read on one of these blogs to stick a special message in their thin wallet which they can keep so I've spent my morning searching for some inspiring quotes. My plan is to send one daily with a short letter and message from the house and a small picture memory. Thought it might be healing for both of us! Lots of hugs to everyone- we can get through this!!!

Hi jujojape, I feel the same. My daughter's emotions are all over the place - excitement, fear, anticipation. I am going to miss her soo very much. What keeps me grounded is knowing how amazing this experience is going to be for her. Hard to believe how fast this day is coming. Tuesday will be a waterfall of tears in this house :(
