Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of November (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have November ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in November, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Not to dampen your spirits but when your Sailor has PIR on 12/31 with follow on orders to A school in Great Lakes does not guarantee them that they are off through Sunday Jan 4th. They could have other commitments like being on duty, standing watch etc. my husband told me his story of checking into a school command when he was a young Sailor. Four hours after checking in he has standing watch......

I made a whole bunch of calls this morning.  I spoke with Great Lakes Boot Camp Public Relations and also the A School Public Relations.  What I found out is that because the gradution is on 12/31st, if they are going to A school in Great Lakes, they will have liberty thru Sunday.  I feel very confident about this information and have made my flight arrangements today.   Also... the cost for staying on the base lodging is $66.00 to $68.00.  You have to go through a security check but what a deal.  The rooms are nice and it is sooo close to where our kids (sorry...young men and women) will be.   Hope this helps.

Oh good! that means I should be getting the letter soon. Thanks for the heads up on the PIR date. I don't know how they will work it around New Years Day. I suppose it will all depend on where they are going to 'A' school after BC.

My son left for BC on nov. 6. Just got the letter with the address! Can't wait to hear from him. PIR is Dec31. Will he get a day off on jan 1?

Hello Everyone.
I shipped my son off to Boot camp on the 5th of Nov.
Haven't received that PIR letter yet but did get his box of clothes the other day.(It would have been better if he had tossed his shoes instead of putting them in the box whew )
This was my 2nd son that joined the Navy. His brother went through it all 2 years ago so I had a pretty good grip on how the day would go when we said bye for 8 weeks.
It certainly is quiet around the house but luckily their friends always stop over still, I think it might be just to raid the kitchen :)
Have a good day

Airborne is mostly vitamins that you can get with an OTC multivitamin supplement. It has herbs also- that's what I would be wary of. (And I am not an anti herbal person, I worked for 5 years as an RN with a group of midwives who often used herbal preparations)- I wouldn't chance any weirdness on that drug screen....

My son leaves on Tuesday the car19th and I picked up some Airborne to give him a boost in immunity. He's concerned that it might create an issue on his drug test. Has anyone had experienced this?

My boy will fly out on the 25th. We drop him with the recuiter on the 24th. He drives Tto san antonio and then flys to Chicago. Very excited for him. I wish I could go with him.

My son left from Albany MEPS 11/12, too. All went well with flight, etc. However, I must stop looking at my phone for texts from him. The dog is taking it hard, too!

My son is leaving on the 23rd.  We live only an hour away from great lakes so he will just be picked up from home. I am trying to get things together.  We are going to have a dinner for family and friends on Friday and I will try to get people to write him letters for me to send off them and get a thin address book for him.
