Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

My son leaves for Boot Camp Sept 24 from Dallas. Would love to touch base with other 24th moms no mater where you are from.

Hi Sassymom, Is your son still leaving on 9/26? I was just curious because my son was leaving the 26th also and they called and changed his date to the 24th yesterday! I hope you are doing well and definately agree it is coming way to soon!

Driving home last night I saw a boy dressed for karate class. I flashed on memories of my son many years ago. Yep, I cried all the way home. I know I went through this when he left for Nicaragua but this seems more permanent. All the mixed feelings of wanting to hold them close but knowing that we have to not only let them go but encourage and support their leaving... This mother stuff is hard y'all!

I've just joined Navy for Moms and read your posts narob01. My son is 24 and graduated with a BA from college. I don't understand why he is joining the Navy. He really wants this so I'll support him. I'm going to be just like you. When I recall childhood memories I'm am going to be very tearful. I don't like the thought of not being able to talk with him when I feel like it. I can't keep him safe when he is so far away. :( :(

THANK YOU! I was beginning to think that I was the only mother out there who didn't understand this. My son has been away from me for long periods so I will tell you that you will survive.( You don't have to like it though) After boot camp he will be able to communicate more. What job is your son signed up for? Are you planning to go to graduation? My son is trying to talk me out of it but I think I'm going) Where are you from? And yes this blog stuff confuses me too!

My son in going to be an aerographer's mate. I am planning on going to graduation & my son also said it's no big deal & I can come if I want to....We don't live too far from Great Lakes so it's not like I'd have to fly & rent a hotel. I live in Wisconsin.
Thank you for your reply. I tried this Navy for Moms a few months back when my son first told me about joining the Navy. (Yes, I was shocked) I felt like a fish out of water. No replies back, nothing. So, I'm glad to be able to have someone who knows what I'm going through.
