I just got a call from my son that he landed in Chicago safely.
I am a mess.... I miss him and just don't know what to expect.
He is my oldest and I just hope he will be okay. It's hard
not being able to talk to him so I can know how he is doing.
I tried calling him back and texting him but no answer
so I figure the drill instructor has made him turn off his phone.
Does anyone know if there is some type of website where
they will post pictures of them at boot camp? Also when does
this feeling of sadness get better???? I can't stop crying
and I feel soo helpless :'(

Yes he left on Monday @melis1234. I am surprised about how fast I got it to. Hopefully everything will go fast from here until PIR!
This was the letter note inside the box

I bet that note just made your day :-) I can't wait to receive my box hopefully soon.
My daughter left from Boston on the 9th. It seems to feel worse everyday! I was going to ask the same question when does it get easier.
Hi Tracy,
I'm not really sure when it gets better but all we can do is take one day at a time. I think about my son all day long almost feels like I am obsessing. I pray our kids are okay and hanging in there. I know it really helps to read the comments from other moms going thru the same journey we are. Hopefully we will receive out boxes soon and it really does help to start writing letters. I still cry everyday but I also am soo proud of my son and his decision. Hang in there it has to get better.
I think today is the first day I have felt remotely myself. Information helps. Venting, crying and spending time reading other posts. It gets better. You will probably be receiving the box soon with stuff they took with them (including the phone).
It will be okay, they are beginning their adventure!

Torie727 From what I understand your son will have to list up to 3 people who will attend graduation.  They have to have it at least 3 weeks before - I think.

My daughter also left on Sept.9th. Got the scripted 45 second phone call around 8:00 Monday night. Received the box yesterday - smiled at her dirty cloths and favorite sunglasses!! Waiting for the letter now to tell me her address - can't wait to hear from her again!

Hi SheisaSeabee,
Do you know if the boxes are coming Fed EX ground or express. A couple of other moms and wives have said they received their boxes and I called Fed EX and they don't see anything for my address in route. I wonder if all the boxes are shipped out on the same date?

Sorry, I just saw this.  Yes, mine came by Fed Ex on Friday.  I hope you have received yours now.

Ship 11/Div 420 as well :o)  PIR 11/01

Hi SheisaSeabee, did you mean your daughter left sept 9th? And her PIR is on nov 1? I am asking b'cause my husband left same date for BC in Great Lakes too. Thanks!
Yes she went to BC on September 9 and I got the letter yesterday that said her PIR is November 1. Maybe they will be in the same one!
