Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

While i sit here trying to keep myself from bawling i remind myself that he is a good boy and he is ready. Its me that is freaking out lol.... going to miss him like crazy!!

My son left last Wednesday, I know exactly how you are feeling. It's just hard not being able to communicate with them. I wrote my first letter today but can't mail it until I'm given the address. Are you going to the services for him to be sworn in tomorrow?

no, unfortunately i am not able to... he did early enlistment months ago so i have had time to adjust to the idea, but it really hasnt helped. I have been trying to keep my mind busy because when i let my self think about it, i just cry lol.. I feel like a loon haha. Is your son also at great lakes?

Good luck. My son left the 5th. Somehow I managed to get through that day and the one before when we actually had to drop him off at the recruiter. I wasn't expecting the dark cloud that came the next day. I miss my son horribly, but know that it will get a little better each day.

Yes, my son is at Great Lakes also. You're right though, we just have to keep busy, it does help. I hope things get easier for us every day!!

Not sure it has hit yet...but we are so proud of her for doing this.

It will be a roller coaster ride. Someone explained it to me like being pregnant...again. All I can say is join as many support groups like this one, find your PIR date on facebook once you get the form letter. It will be great meeting men and women who know what you are going through and what you are feeling- believe me the outside world will have no clue! Hang tuff it does get easier after the form letter arrives and you at least feel like you can send your letters. My son graduated on 8/23 and now his best frind left MEPS on 9/4 so I will be enjoying this crazy ride again with all of you!

Their biggest life journey has begun....Step 1 was getting to BC...We, as parents and family just need to continue to love and support our young recruits. They will need lots of "fan" mail these next 8 weeks. Find people to write them, to show how much we care, and before we know it! We will see them at PIR standing tall.

I did get it at about 9:17 last night. I asked if everything was okay and he said NO. :( I know the first two days they are going to feel like it is the worst decision they have ever made. My oldest son went through that. When you get your first letter it will probably break your heart, but they will be okay. The first two days they are dealing with the emotion of leaving everyone, they are scared (whether they admit it or not), they are extremely tired and hungry, and then they get off the bus to people screaming in their face immediately. On top of that they are up for 48 hours straight their first two days. They write their letter at the end of that second day when they are just overflowing with emotion.
Your second letter from them will be such a sigh of relief. :)
