Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of September (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have September ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in September, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.
Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)
**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Still no call or letter from him but can't wait for that. You'll get thru it, Swearing in is amazing, Hang in there we are all here for you!

Where is your son leaving out of ?
I'm planning on going up to the hotel tomorrow night to hang out and have dinner with him, then back to MEPS on Wednesday for the swearing in. I just hope I don't kill myself driving home through all those tears.
Good Luck, If you can make the swearing in by all means do so, it is great.. Yes lots of tears, but a moment not to miss. Good luck, lots of great Mom's and Dad's on this sight all pulling for our kids.
I got to work this morning and my boss had a beautiful care package of a box of Klenex, Stress Relief Lotion and Body Soap and a box of Chocolates on my desk. My son is leaving tomorrow for the overnight, swearing in on Wed. I'm so lucky to have such wonderful people in my life to help me through the next couple weeks of no contact to come.
Hi Lorie,
My son left from Boston on 9/11 and i rec'd his box on 9/17, the form letter came on 9/19 - hang in there!!
Harleymom1346 No I have not gotten the Kid in a Box yet I am still waiting I am out in Boston so I imagen it will take longer for me to recieve things. It was a long weekend without him. There is no one to eat me house out of home and so many leftovers. He was my one kid who ate everything if you know what I mean. So I am still waiting hopefully that letter will come soon. I try to keep my mind busy and I am glad to be back at work this Monday morning. I am a teacher so its very busy here. It helps pass the time. I hope you are well and hanging in there your from OK right?
Lorie-Lee How was your weekend sweetie? Have you received your "Kid in a box?" I haven't. Praying it comes today..then I know my letter is not to far behind! Dying to send these letters!
Have a great one hon!
