Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of September (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have September ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in September, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

My son leaves on the 26th from MD....16 days!  He is excited cant wait to go....the only thing he has asked from his brother and myself is for us to act NORMAL...what ever that may be, so I am trying really hard to not rock the boat, cry or do anything that would be out of the norm.  Kelly D if I lived in Main I would take a PIC for you....Anyone else leaving from the MD area?

Well party over and my granddaughter is home waiting to leave tomorrow for hotel. We all had a great family time and I think I actually saw a tear in her eye when her 4 year old cousin came and jumped in her arms and held on so tight to tell her bye. I know what was going through her mind that he will probably be all grown up next time she sees him. One more day if good byes for her. We will see her Monday for swearing in

I plan on going to airport with them, I hope they will let us down the concourse to wait with her before she leaves. Bless you all.

Monday is the big day for my son.  Know what you mean about being emotional.  Trying to stay upbeat and enjoy our last few days, tomorrow we are going to Dorney Park with my two older sons for a family fun day, then Mon off to the recruiter, tues MEPS then he is off on this incredible adventure. Sure am proud of that boy! (I wish I had thought about buying stock in a tissue company before now,)

Good luck dknight75.  It is an emotional time, but I will say watching the swearing in was such a pride filled moment:)  To watch all the young men and women take that oath is something!  I know he is going to enjoy his favorite meals with you all:) I just saw a really cute idea for your little one, they made a card with a anchor on it and for the chain they made a paper chain with the days left until you see them again.  She might enjoy making it and also removing a link a day until she can see her big brother again:)   Good luck to you all!!

Tomorrow is the big day for my son. I am a little emotional today and trying to not let it show. We got a rundown of the timeline for tomorrow and Monday. We have to have him at the recruiter's office at 2:30pm, they will do paperwork, then I will take him to the hotel to check in. He can leave with us, but he must be back by curfew. Monday he does his final swearing in at Meps. We have to be there no later than 8:15am, and then he will catch a flight to Chicago. He is hanging out with his best friend and cousin right now. I am making his favorite dinner tonight and he will get his second favorite tomorrow before he goes. I am so proud of him, but it is much harder to let go than I anticipated. My 4 year old is not very happy about it either, but she is coping. She is actually napping in his bed now...it is sweet.

Well tomorrow is her gonig away party since we had to cancel due to Isaac last weekend. She has been here with me all week. She had been distancing herself from me all summer, I had been hurting not knowing why. Since she was a infant she has been with me all week when she very little, then weekends after she started school and all summer we were together. She has actually been away from her mom and dad longer than she has every been away from me. I admit she has been spoiled being the first grandbaby. She gets really cranky and smart mouth since she has been a teen bit has always been a Christian leadet to her friends. This week has meant so much to the both of us. She has been so pleasant and grown up this week. Has actually listen to me, laughed together and has enjoyed waking me the last two mornings for 4AM so we can go to the gym together. So, one more morning at gym than party. She leaves Sumday 1:00 to hotel, Monday morning swearing in and leaving. Been holding it together all week just don't know how long that will last. She just came into kitchen a few minutes ago and whispered she loves me. That mean teenager can go to BC but I like this person. I know she will be fine not to sure about me though.

How did this baby that would chase mu car down the street when I brought her home turn out to be such a wonderful and brave young lady. Don't remember it happening at all. Still see that little girl with the pigtails crying when I would leave her. I think that little girl is still there somewhere behind those grown up eyes that has been looking at me all week.

Love and prays to all of you and you SR's.

Diana, thanks for the extra boost.  My son leaves Mon with the recruiter, tues MEPS then off to Boot Camp.  So excited for him, and I will deal with my end.  After all this is about his future, which is why we worked so hard as parents. But I will miss him soooooooooooo much. Bless our children they are so brave!
