Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of September (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have September ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in September, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Wow, I can't believe we're up to 11/23 PIR! That's something. Time just flies by :o)

Hi FTLW....my daughter arrived on 9/28. Where would this place me? I thought perhaps she was PIR on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving from what I was researching and predicting.... Let me know. If this will be her group, I think I can step up to organize the PIR group.  Thanks, Diana

Hello!

We will be looking for the mom/wife/GF etc. who will be interested in creating the 11/23/2011 PIR group. Note: This PIR group will be on Wednesday because of Thanksgiving.

Probably someone who's recruit is arriving between 09/29 – 10/04 to RTC to be on the safe side. So ladies if it is something you think you'd be interested in...Friend me and send me a message.

Please remember that when I post dates of when your SR may PIR...it is not exact. I am basing it on the earliest reports and making an "educated" guess on the cutoff date for a TG. BC can be anywhere from 7.5 to 9 weeks. Your recruiter may have your recruit’s ship/division as early as 72 hours after arriving at BC.

However, we like to try to get the PIR groups going so if you DO know the date (got your form letter already, some of you get it real early...lucky dogs!) I really hope you consider starting the next one!

Thank You!

We will hold off until Monday of next week, (possibly Tuesday unless we get an actual confirmation of your recruits PIR date early on!) but you may friend and PM me in the meantime to ask questions and get details before you commit.

Just planting seeds ladies!

Aw Kendra....hugs to you. I see Aubrey's left over stuff to yet put away and can't touch it yet. I wonder if our girls will PIR the same day? Please post as soon as you find out! Hang in there!

I keep checking Megan's room and the thought of when is Megan supposed to be home or check in... I even bought groceries and as always I count how many will be eating at home and start to count Meg and realize she ain't gonna be there! I didn't cry much the day she left but I am overwhelmed with sadness missing my little girl! Haven't slept good since she left... Have dreams of her.. I know this should pass soon! I left her in San Antonio TX on 9/28 she got to BC that night last time I heard her voice she sounded sad and exhausted! I miss her but I know she is becoming apart of something bigger than herself and is going to have a future I could not give to her! She is a survivor she will make it!

Yes, I anxiously await 'the box' and those first letters. Now comes the maneuvering and planning to head up for PIR once that info gets more set. Lots to do to keep my mind off her not being here to share weekend or evening tea, etc. The cats are a bit frazzled. They know something is up. She was one of 'them'....her buds since she was little. Part of me realizes this is 8 weeks. I think the real challenge will be when she is off to A School and then deployment. Then it will sink in that she is not coming home the way she used to be :-/

Be well ladies. Chins up; hearts full..........

Jenn- you are absolutely right everyone handles things differently. Glad to hear you are doing well :o) When did your son leave? My daughter arrived at GL on 9/21. Personally, I was surprised when I received the "box" on 9/27 and her 1st letter on 9/29 on my husband's b'day. That was a wonderful surprise. Please let us know when you know his PIR date. My daughter's PIR is 11/18.

Diana and Wanda - I am in the same boat as you.  I miss my son every day and I'm constantly wondering "what is he doing?" "is he ok?" but I'm not as sad as I expected.  I know how much he has wanted to do this and I'm so happy for him.  I get a choked up here and there - probably at least once a day - but I was expecting to be in a deep funk and constantly in tears so I'm happy that I'm not.  I worry now and then that I should be more sad but I know we all handle things in a different way so I'm just going with the flow.  I have to admit I am already anxious to get his box and the form letter.  I know I have a ways to wait, but I wish they would get here soon!  Stay strong everyone!!

Hi AubreysMom, glad you are doing well. I too did not get hit with a severe spell of sadness. Of course, I miss my daughter but I also know the struggles she's gone through and the journey she's been on since getting to this point. The whole thing has changed her and made her stronger. I'm so happy with the person she has become from this journey and the new journey she's about to embark that it's difficult for me to be sad. There is so much good coming from all of this that I could bust from the joy I feel and the joy I feel for others going through this new journey. I'm just so excited for my daughter to finally begin her new life. I love her soooo much. I just want to see her soar!! As you can tell I am sooooooooooo proud of her. LoL

God speed to you and your SR; just enjoy the journey :o)

Well, all's quiet on the home front. It's nearly noon and I'm still in my pjs!!! A much needed quiet day at home.... I'm feeling better. The sadness hasn't hit me like I thought. Maybe it's because regular life sucked me back into the fray or maybe it's because I've been slowly grieving the loss of childhood with my daughter and beginning the healing and purging with you all. Maybe both. In any event, I feel more centered and calm and ready to embrace this transition in both our lives....  Hope everyone else is going well and continue to hear good news from your loved one.
