Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of September (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have September ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in September, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.
Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)
**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

graceism....you make me laugh! Happy to hear you received some information. 3 days left here :-/ My stomach is in knots. My daughter is breezing through this at the moment, spending time doing last minute visiting. I savor these last moments and dread them at the same time. I think we both are ready to just call it and move on to the next step. Feels like purgatory....
Good to know on Southwest. I will check that out as well when the time comes.
Tonight, while my daughter is hanging with her dad's family at a bbq, I am printing tiny little 2"x3" pics to stash in her wallet along with a small card of important numbers and address, stamps, and a love note. She threatened to ditch the pics thinking those were 'comfort' items not allowed. I hope she'll just chill and allow me to indulge - after all, I KNOW what to expect after all this wisdom from my newfound friends......
Hugs to you all. I am grateful our paths have crossed.
Bellachella, numbering of the letters is a good idea. I plan to do that as well.
I hope my daugher's PIR ISN'T Nov 10th, I have tickets to Radio City's Christmas Spectacular for Nov 12th. It's my mom's 75th b'day. We're surprising her with the tickets. I pray we get Nov 18th or later.
@Bella....good to know. That is about what I was thinking. We have the phone card, dr. license, SS card, and bank card - bandaid(s), stamps, $25...and I'll sneak in a pic or 2 with a note. She has her travel pack ready and knows to send back the cellphone in 2 parts along with all else in her pack. Still need to pick up a pocket sized Bible as it sounds like nothing larger should be sent.
I SO appreciate all this tips and words of encouragement. My daughter is getting tired of me giving her a 'heads up' on what to expect....I just want to lessen the shock a bit.
4 days :-/ And 2 of them she is headed for LA to spend with her best friend......
@Jenn: Such a sweet picture of your little one following her big brother around. Sounds like she will keep you sweetly occupied during the waiting period :-)
Right now Wednesdays are looking like the day for the new TG’s to start but there are always variables…this is a general idea. That is why I am asking for those that have arrived on Thursday, Friday, the next Monday (some will go to MEPS and leave the same day, for most the second trip is two days) and Tuesday to consider being the creator of the next PIR group to be on the safe side. Also, why I am waiting on Monday as some can call the recruiter that day.
A 900 Division Mom is a very good idea as they go consecutively with the TG’s Example: TG 51 the 900 Division is 951. We know that the recruit that is in 951 is going to be in TG 51.
So if you get a Ship/Div number either from your recruiter or your form letter…post it so we can direct you to your PIR group.
Bellachella - Right now the way it is looking it is more likely that your PIR is going to be on the 10th...but you are "on the cusp" so to speak! It is very random as to when some recruits will complete BC. 7.5 to 9 weeks (this includes "P" days) is the range.
There are three "kinds" of Divisions in BC training 800 divisions(not always in a TG) which are only SPECOP recruits, 900 divisions which are the performing divisions (there is USUALLY only one in each PIR) and then all the rest of the divisions. Division numbers always go consecutively...Ships (the building in which they live in) are more random. Brother Divisions (two divisions that train together) almost always reside in the same ship (different compartments) but there can be more than one Ship to a TG. Once one is filled with divisions they move on to the next vacancy.
Divisions start with about 88 recruits. They will lose and gain some along the way...most typically finish around the 70+ mark.
When the recruits are arriving they are filtered off to the 800 (if there are any) and 900 Divisions and then the rest of the divisions. Some get held up for paperwork, other things or the TG gets filled and they have to wait for the next TG to start. Some get "pushed back" to another TG that may have been waiting for a few recruits to make their starting number.
The recruiter usually can get the Ship Div in 72 hours upon arrival.
