Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of September (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have September ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in September, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Here is the link for the 10/28/2011 PIR group.

It starts with Ship 12/Div 355...and then we'll go up from there!  Performing group 950 should be in this training group.

Thank you Fireteamleaderwife1! My son was curious how it works since he will be going into EOD. It always helps the nerves when you know a little of what to expect.

I don't know how late the flights leave; they are in Columbia, about 2 hours away from us, but a lot of areas have had tornado warnings around here, so there could be one there, too.  I guess they have a computer in the USO, or maybe he borrowed someone's smartphone; I'm not sure how he managed to post to facebook, but I'm glad he did so I know what's going on.  Maybe he'll get a chance to do it again.

I was an AirForce wife years ago, and there were no computers, so therefore no websites like this.  I would have loved it.  Hopefully your DIL will discover that it will help her get through this also.

Jacketfan..Oh no, no charger means he will have to line up to call you.  I wonder how late they flight out, if i was at work I'd be trying to figure that out.   Do any flights leave your area after 6pm for Chicago?  I wouldn't be surprised if yours flies tomorrow too though.   Met another mom from the same city who's son was shipping out today (now tomorrow).  She had no idea about N4M.  I am sure I will see her on here soon.

FireTeamLeaderWife, DIL definately knows that I am on this site.  Don't think that she has been yet.  Son probably acts like that is "stalker mom" thing to do.

Bandito's Mom - thanks for the update. How funny...we went to IHOP for my Sailor last family breakfast before I dropped him off at the recruiters!

Bummer about the cancellation.

Will your DIL be joining you on this site. We have GF...spouses etc too! There are some wives group and I know of one that was started by a young woman that was in my PIR group. "Advice for New Spouses". They are dedicated to helping each other through the process and DEERS, ID's, housing issues etc. She is a sweet gal.

One thing I know as a wife and a mom...it is different...neither harder, easier, less/nore important...just different.

I am glad you say that she is dedicated...she will need to be.

Bandito's mom...glad you had a good experience.  Mine put a message on facebook since his cell phone died (he refused to take his charger, which I think he is now regretting) that he is sitting in the USO at the airport since his flight was delayed.  We've had some bad weather here today.  I don't know when his new flight time is.  At least they have a place for them to wait.  I guess that means that I could get the I'm here call in the middle of the night, so I'd better make sure my phone is charged!

I'm okay so far, also, but I almost cried in a meeting at work today.  Everyone there has been so nice.

What a roller coaster.  Get up this morning planning to go to MEPS at 9am, get call from DIL that they may swear in 8-8:30, literally run to MEPS and then wait until almost 11 for his swear in.  He missed the first group, saw him a bit before his group's briefing.  Family could go into the room to take pics, but only one other family set in our group.  A moment to take pics, but they were moving the next group into the room, so not too much time.  He went for more briefing/paperwork.  Came by said he was going to eat.... oh did I mention, no where for civilians to get food or coffee, we were starving..... and then he would get his travel brief.  Comes downstairs about 12 and they are leaving for the airport for 1:45 flight.  Kiss, hug, cry...... Then see them walking to the bus, watch the bus leave, but decided not to go to airport.  Eating at Ihop, get a call that flight cancelled and they are going back to the hotel.  DIL now needs to get him a change of clothes, and will see him again. His flight is early tomorrow now..... At least he is on Navy pay.

As to me, right now I am ok.  Very proud of him, his wife is dedicated to making this work.  Moving ceremony, took a lot of commitment and dedication for him to get here.  I love my SR

My youngest is 12 and he is very sad.  His older sister moved out 2 years ago and now his brother is leaving too so he is bumming pretty bad.

LOL @ invisible12, he just wants that bedroom.

@ProudMom, it's so tough, I'm the same way.  So proud of my son, he actually had a wrestling scholarship for college but he said he just wasnt ready for more school so he didn't want to let someone else have the scholarship.
