Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of September (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have September ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in September, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Hi Lisa, sorry things are going crazy with H. A hasn't been around a lot lately as she is spending as much time with friends as possible. She goes for her blessing in church tomorrow, as you know she will need any and all help and I am not ashamed to ask for it. We are expecting her to come home with her BC hair cut. It was planned for this weekend so we will see.
A is not taking much of anything with her. Clothes on her back, ID, bank info, and her bible which will have things like - phone card, stamps, addresses and a few photos in the zip pouch. She doesn't want to have to pay to send stuff home that they will just send back. It comes out of their paycheck and she wants it to be as light as possible.

Hope your weekend gets better.

Angie you can come to our party on the 19th. I'm sure we won't notice extra people showing up.

My daughter just sent out her facebook evites, the list showed 108, for her Anchors aweigh party on the 19th. Seems like a long time away but I know it's not. Now we just have to get ready. The list is getting checked off as we go along. We just hope that it all gets done.

Lisa, Aub's appt is Tuesday, wish us luck and we could do with some prayers.

Hi Ladies - My daughter has to be at her recruiter by 12 noon the day before she reports. She has to be in San Diego by 3 pm and it is about a 2 hour drive from us. We are all going to have to say our goodbyes that morning since everyone in the house either has work or school. Our daughter thought it was better that way, because she didn't want to have to say goodbyes over and over. She felt it would be too upsetting. Hope this helps.

Also, even though it might be difficult, talk about the serious things. While it might not be pleasant, and because we hold our daughters' POA we had to ask questions about serious injury, DNR, organ donation and burial. It is better to know what they would want then guess. Sorry, such a serious conversation so early in the morning. Have a good day, I have to get ready for work.

Well Ladies with all this talk about cars I have to tell you it makes me nervous. We have an 18 year old son who just got his first car loan this week. Has been driving for the past two years but only with a plain toyota corolla (his words). He found a used 2004 Infinity G35 and is paying both the payments and insurance. Mind you this is a performance car and has some power to it. Makes me very anxious but at some point you have to let them grow up.

We are at 26 days and counting with our Depper - Aubree, she is slowly starting to get things done. POA is today with the attorney, she still has to decide on a short haircut, I think this is giving her the most conflict, as her hair is past her shoulders. SHe has decided to keep her car in the hope she can have it at A or C school in Virginia Beach. And is sorting through her stuff for shipping when she is allowed to receive things. The list never ends.

Jodi ask any questions that you have. Someone on this site will have the answers you need. My daughter Aubree leaves the week after your son. Where is he going after BC and what will his job be? Aubree will be going in as an E3 and will to go to A & C school in Dam Neck Virginia for Navel Intel. JackieM (Aub's mom)

Hi Jodi, After bootcamp they are usually allowed to take with them to A school their cell phone, laptop and ipod. Sometime during A school or after, they can earn rewards to have at school. This includes things like normal clothes ( bluejeans and t-shirts and such) and other previliges such as liberty. I hope this helps to explain things. I asked my daughter to put in a box a couple outfits and some other things that she would definately want with her as soon as possible for us to send. JackieM(Aub'smom)

Ok Ladies. My daughter Aubree went to her 30 day today for her "whiz Quiz" and I'm happy to say she is not on drugs or pregnant. At least that is the news from the Navy. We also had other great news about another thing she had to discuss with her recruiter that was of concern but it turned out all right. They have decided to keep her. All kidding aside, things are starting to get real and exciting and worrisome. Although it is actually 31 days until she leaves, at dinner tonight we started on a list of todo for her and the parents. Car ( keep or sell) POA for both financial and medical, her jury summons, her party, what she wants and doesn't want to be told while she is gone and the fact that she will not get to walk for her college degree in Nov. It seems as though the list is endless. I am not sure she realizes how fast this month will go. I feel like I just need to keep the eyes on the prize (PIR). I am back at work after 10 weeks off and it's back to the complications of our district's health services department. At least it will keep my mind off of what's to come. Good night ladies and God bless. JackieM(Aub'smom)
P.S. A special thank you to Lisa & Heather for the special support they have given Aubree and I. You are the best!

Hi Ladies and also thank you Angie for your useful information. If things go as expected, mind you I do understand the idea that things change at any moment, our daughter's PIR will occur during Thanksgiving week. So as I understand it, you believe that her PIR will be held on Wed of that week, not the following Friday when I understand they have them. Does that make sense? I hope so, just trying to understand things. JackieM (Aub'smom)

Talked to my daughter and she said that her whiz quiz is friday, because her recruiter told her to come prepared to go to the bathroom. Just makes things so real.
