Hey everyone! my husband has his orders to report to Lemoore on the 14th of August, Im trying to leave with him to get there together. we will be coming from San Diego and I wanted to know if we can apply for on base housing from here or do we have to be there to do it? I was looking at the lincoln military housing and wanted to get some opinions or advice on how to go about this process. Also does anyone know if there is a waitlist or how long it would take to get a house?

Thanks for your response! (: How do you sign up for base housing? i went to a workshop on the base here in san diego about relocating and it helped out a lot... im a little more at ease about the whole move but yes if you could message me the phone number that would be great. what is the apt complex name? and when you get to Lemoore we should meet up and be friends (: lol what is your husband's rate?
My husband is an AO, and I think i am just going to transfer from my job here to over there. I work at Old Navy and saw that there was one in N. Hanford at that shopping mall there so hopeully... if i do I will start in October to give me time to find daycare and stuff but you should try to apply there if u wanted to get in retail. and i am going to look into these apts as well (:
Hi girls, I am an Ombudsman in Lemoore and I can help answer your questions somewhat. You can apply for housing if you have a hard copy of the orders. The sponsor needs to contact Lincoln Military Housing and fill out an application. Wait times vary based on the paygrade and number of dependents. Typically a 3 bedroom house for a junior enlisted member is the longest wait because they are the most common needed homes. (There are no 2 bedrooms on the base). If you can get into a month to month type lease in town, that would be a great option, because as soon as your name comes up on the housing list, you can move out of the apartment and on to base.
Yes, jobs can be difficult around here. The Central Valley has one of the worst unemployment rates in the Nation, at about 15% unemployment. However, there are jobs if you keep at it. They may typically be retail jobs, but, hey, it is a job. Kohl's will actually be opening a store in the Hanford mall in the fall, so you may think about going on their website and applying with them to get in the door right when they open. On base can be difficult, as civil service jobs go to vets as top priority. There are some contractors on the base that hire admin type positions as well and you can go into the Fleet and Family Service Center on base to get information on those. They usually require that you pass a security clearance to get the position. On the base itself, there is limited jobs with places like Starbucks, the Navy Exchange and so forth. Feel free to send me a private message if you have any other questions and I would be happy to help. We have been here 3 yrs and it looks like I will be here for at least another year.
Thank You so much for your help, I will definitely contact you if I need anything else... im sure i will have more questions soon (:
Hey guys, I wanted to let you all know that Kohl's is scheduling thier interviews now for the new store. If you go to the Kohls website, under new stores and employment it should have the information.
Hey I had a question, we havnt scheduled our pcs move yet because my husband is afraid that we won't have anywhere to stay when we get there and I told him about temporary lodging but he's not really understanding how that works. Do you know by any chnace how it works?
Hi,

My name is Alonya my family and I just recently moved to NAS Lemoore in May.We didn't schedule our move we did a DITY move and with our temporary lodging we had to pay for it up front and then they said we would get reimbursed for it when we filed our claim for the move.Im not positive if thats how it works if you have someone else move you but thats how it worked for us.I hope this is somewhat helpful to you!Oh and if you stay in the Navy Lodge and have pets you have to have their shots records and an individual cage for each of them.Good Luck with your move and welcome to Lemoore!
Also be aware that if you want to stay at the Navy Lodge and have pets, reservations need to be made in advance. I know that there are only a certain number of rooms authorized to have pets in them.
Temporary Lodging is only authorized for so many days, I believe it is ten total. He should talk to somebody about what he is authorized and how much per diem he would get. Also request DLA or Dislocation Allowance. This is not automatically given to the service member, but when you PCS you are authorized to get it, IF you request it.
They told my husband the same thing but we lived in Bristol,Tn and thats like 37 hrs so him coming back to get us really wasnt an option. We had to report here by May 21st so he had to fax over a copy of his orders and our application and I think that was about the end of April and they said it was like a one month waiting list.We got here May 20th and moved in our house by May 25th.We stayed in a hotel until our house was ready and we were reimbursed for it since we did a DITY move.Since you live closer than I did it might be easier for him to go ahead and come down and get put on the list that way you dont have to stay in a hotel like I did with two kids lol.And when your house is ready you can just load everything up and come on down here!Good Luck!
Hi everyone! Sorry I havnt been on here for a while but we are finally here getting settled into our house outside of the base here in downtown lemoore. We got here last Sunday and stayed at the navy lodge till our house was ready. We are on the waitinglist for housing on base but if things work out here we just might stay. They told me the waitlist is 4 to 6 months to get a house on base. My husband will be leaving to fallon next month and then to a longer deployment so if any of u guys wanna meet up sometime let me know. Our house is always open for visitors as well, especially those of u with kids, my daughter is 3 and needs some friends too (:
Welcome to Lemoore!Glad you are settled in well.I have two daughters one is 4 and the other is 18 months. They have really good programs here for kids like ballet and tumbling and they even have a mommy and me class you can join. They are all $25 a month and its a really good way to meet new people and your little to make new friends. My little girls will be starting Sept.1st.You might want to get your husband to check in on it if you are interested.Anyways just throwing out ideas lol I know its hard moving to a place where you dont really know anyone especially when you have children.Im hoping my cupcakes can find some friends to I think it will be good for them :)
