Welcome, Heather's mom (sorry, I don't know your name) and JLo's mom (can't find your name either!!) to our site. I'm Jane and live in west Boise. My daughter has been in the Navy for 5 years and is currently a 4/c Midshipman at the Naval Academy. Her "graduation" from plebe summer is next week (Parent's weekend) and her dad and I won't be able to attend. It saddens us greatly as we haven't seen her since late June and won't see her until Christmas. So, unfortunately, some parents do miss the opportunity to attend some of those high points in our sailor's life, like PIR. Kay's PIR was so long ago sometimes it seems like a dream but I'll never forget any of it. She graduated just before Christmas so with the snow, ice and other elements of Chicago weather we didn't do a whole lot of anything. To be honest the only thing she wanted to do was sleep!! We did a little sight seeing but our flight was the day after PIR since that ended up being the 23rd so we were pretty rushed. Needless to say both of you will enjoy your time with your sailor's. Good luck!
