Hi Cat! That's so cool! Everything IS going good for him. He has received a ribbon for his uniform and he's getting an award at the PIR rehearsal Thursday night. I could tell he was very proud of himself :)

Hey ladies, I would love to be a part of the Meet and Greet.  I live in Shreveport, so if we want to do it on a weekend I can make the trip.  Just knowing that we might be getting together is comforting.  I hope everyones loved one gets through BC and their A School successfully.  God Bless to all of you

Hi y'all
My son just left today on the USS halliburton for 8 months, it is his first deployment. Just wondering of the best things I can mail to him...all suggestions would b welcomed! Wondering if there is a USS halliburton group.

Godspeed to all our sailors till they are home with their loved ones!

wow msmom! Superbowl with your son? What a wonderful memory. I'm doing wonderful now. Got a call yesterday for 11 minutes and 32 seconds :) I've heard that was pretty lucky for only being 10 days in. He sounds wonderful and it sure did make me feel so much better. It's crazy not knowing how they are making out. He has a little cold but he says he is doing fine. His body is sore but knows it'll just get better as time goes by. I did not get my box because he just wanted to discard his clothes. He left his cell phone at home .Did not question it. I thought he just couldn't take his phone that far. I missed out on talking to him while he flew to GL. We did spend the afternoon with him at the airport. Thanks for the info..it helps so much. Don't know what I would do without this site.
Wow Japan...so far away. How are you doing? Do you get to receive emails and phone calls? Go Saints, LSU and Hornets!

Hi Sugarscoop! I drive between Baton Rouge, where I work, and New Orleans. I dropped my son off at Metairie hotel Wednesday after we won Superbowl in Feb (he and I went to Miami for the game). I remember every moment of that Wednesday night.
There will many moments along the way that you will feel like you are about to lose it because you miss him, but many more moments that you will be filled with pride in him.
Did you get the 'kid in a box' yet?
We all cry when that comes and can't imagine what he is wearing because it is as if he stripped everything he had on and brought with him into that box. Rest assured that the Navy issues him nice, soft, warm clothes. The box worried me a great deal.
He won't be able to call you very often and the calls will be brief.
Plan to go up to GL for his PIR. He will send you information as soon as it is available. It is your first chance to see and hug him in person.
Write here any time. I try to keep up with my groups. We all cry together and then smile when we talk to them.
My son is in Japan for about one month now and is adjusting to life on board a destroyer...would sure like to see some friendly faces to support him while he roots on LSU, Saints and Hornets.

I know that the Ruston unit is scheduled to go. They were informed very recently, I think another unit is going also. We have a friend's son that is currently in Iraq - he volunteered to go with another unit; he will be going with his unit to A'stan in May.

We have another friend that is a Chaplin in the La Guard - they did a joint project with the Navy in Haiti this past spring.
