Hello
We look forward to hearing about your sailors journey. How he/she likes being an MAA (MA) and which kind of job they are doing and how you are doing knowing what your sailor does for a living.
NOTE: Please help keep our sailors safe. Don't give out exact locations.Example: If he/she is in Iraq you can say Iraq but I would not say the name of the camp or a town near the camp. If they are on a ship don't give the last known location. Although some of that is public we don't in anyway want to jeopardize them.

Hi Deborah, My son has just finished A school and has some addtional training down south and then heads to San Diego for mobile security. I have a feeling he will be following your son. Just curious how long the training at San Diego was?

Welcome Bobbie, I'm kind of an old timer MA mom. Mine has been in for almost 3 1/2 years now. She loved San Antonio and "A" school. Is now stationed aboard the aircraft carrier USS George Washington based out of Yokosuka Japan. San Antonio treats their military population right. LOTS of free or deeply discounted things for them to do there.

Welcome aboard! "A" School is an interestig ride for the whole family. Your Chris will learn so much about his job and even more about himself. They earn phone calls like in bc. He'll be confined to base for a while, the rooms are nice. My Chris graduated this past June 4th. Weather should be nicer for your Chris!!!! Best wishes!

Hello to everyone! My son just graduated from boot camp and arrived at A-school today. Hope to meet other family members with new sailors at A-school and that have sailors that are already MA's so that I know what I am in for.

Kimmydee....actually quite a few of the MA's wind up in Guam. If she can get into "Mobile Security" her chances for Guam are even higher. Hawaii......that's another story. VERY hard to get assigned there......gee, I wonder why??? But from everything I've heard, Guam is VERY beautiful and tropical. A lot like Hawaii. Best of luck to her. It seems like the kids actually wind up adjusting pretty well, no matter where they wind up, even if it's not a place they would ever choose. My daughters first assignment was NOWHERE she would have ever chosen, but she did okay with it, and made the most of it, and actually wound up having a great time while she was there.

Alie.....I'm not exactly sure what rank they have to be in order to be part of the Canine unit, but my daughter went in also hoping for that. In fact, she had actually worked training a police dog as her Sr. Exit project for high school. Unfortunately, those slots are VERY limited most of the time, but you never know with the Navy, what is a jam packed "rate" one year can be wide open the next. Just tell her that she will have to really excel in boot camp and "A" school in order to be considered for the canine program. Once my daugher actually got in to the Navy, she kind of lost interest in the canine program, but has loved being an MA. Hopefully your daughter will also!! Lots of changes ahead for both of you, but in my experience......it's been wonderful for my daughter!!

Just spent two weeks with my sailor son and he just left yesterday to SD his first duty station. Wow, those two weeks with him were so amazing, he made his bed every day. He looks always did as he wrestled in high school. I miss him so much already but I am very excited about hearing his stories and visiting with him throughout the next two years.

chriscwick.....isn't it funny to see our kids grow and change??? YEAH FOR YOU!!! It's so nice to hear from them, isn't it? Love "the ripple in the force" lol The MA's tend to be VERY good about motivating each other to stay in shape. My daughter also had one MA that was with her from basic, to A school, to her first duty station. It does make the moves easier on them I think :>)
