Hello
We look forward to hearing about your sailors journey. How he/she likes being an MAA (MA) and which kind of job they are doing and how you are doing knowing what your sailor does for a living.
NOTE: Please help keep our sailors safe. Don't give out exact locations.Example: If he/she is in Iraq you can say Iraq but I would not say the name of the camp or a town near the camp. If they are on a ship don't give the last known location. Although some of that is public we don't in anyway want to jeopardize them.

Hi all, it's been about 3 years since Kelcie was at Lackland for MA A school. If I remember correctly, it's 10 weeks long. SOOOO much nicer than boot camp, they can have phones, laptops, ipods etc. They do not train WITH the Air Force, in fact the branches have a nice little rivalry going on at Lackland. They even torment each other in their march cadences :>) The housing at Lackland is "sweet", what ever that means. Kelcie was in a "900" class at basic, but said that "A" school was much more physically demanding than basic, but she absolutely loved it. So that's about it, as far as the "basics" of A school as far as I can remember. Lots of stuff to see and do in San Antonio, and lots of discounts for the military.

Welcome back, Becky!! I have only been a Navy Mom for 3 years in October and also MAA Mom. My son, Allen is K-9 MA3 stationed on Diego Garcia. Understand why you are so relaxed and know what all to expect. Again, welcome back!

Does anyone know time & location for this Friday's graduation @ Lackland? My son thinks 9 am. Just wanted to see if anyone had more details. Thanks!

Not to sure that the sailor's get a lot of "choice". They can request, but it is kind of a "crap shoot". Couldn't hurt to talk to the CO and career counselor, but ultimately, it depends on how many positions are open in their desired specialty. Don't remember for sure, but I think Kelcie found out where she was going about 2/3 of the way through "A" school. When she was there (3 years ago) about 90% of every other graduating class was being sent to Bahrain, and every other graduating class was being split up in a million different directions.

They have to talk with their career counselor, I think or maybe the CO.
