Chriswick!! That is GREAT!!! I live only about 4 or 5 hours from San Antonio! Come see me and I'll take you to see him!!!
(Spring break is coming up - I need a vacation)!!
One good thing about Bahrain - it is considered a "combat zone". Their income is TAX FREE while there! Almost half my son's income last year was tax free!!
This is the place you should be "trioquem"! We have a good cross section of Moms here, you should be able to hear from a Mobile Security Mom. When will your son be arriving on base?
My Chris is also MA3, but assigned to Kennel Support. Mine lived on base for his first year.5, but now is in a flat OB. He's getting ready to finish his 2nd year there this summer around Father's Day. We're waiting to hear if he'll get a shot at becoming a MWD Handler & go to school in TX. If so, he'll stay on in Bahrain another year minimum.
Do you know how long your son's tour will be? Hopefully, he'll come on base while it's cooler so his acclaimation will be easier. The heat and sand is awful, but it is usually a good assignment. Many stay on or re-up after other deployments.
Donna(Steve's Mom) - the backpack on FB was a hoot! Steve is certainly a secure man to pull that look off!!!!
How did everyone fare in those awful storms last night? The Blue Ridge Mtns. saved us again from the brunt of that mess, thank goodness. Hope all are safe and sound. Looks like this spring could be a bit more interesting than we'd like.
I'll have my last day in my long term sub job in ESL tomorrow. I'm going to miss the bunch I taught and tested. They are a hoot and a half. We were a regular United Nations of speakers. My recent addition of a Chinese cutie, Maggie, is coming along nicely. After dead silence for weeks she now jumps into conversations with a lot less fear. Her fellow ESL kindergarters are her biggest cheerleaders and instigators! It's a scream watching & listening to them try to get her to talk with them in English. She tried to speak Mandarin, but the little boy she wanted to talk to wouldn't speak anything but English. They got the giggles when she got put out with him. He just smiled, made faces and spoke in English. We were worried about her not speaking, but now we may have to worry about her speaking too much!!!! I can deal with those kind of worries!
Happy Friday ladies!
Hello Ladies;
My daughter has been in Bahrain a little over a month now. Last week was rough, home sickness finally hit. She is over that hump now and working hard. Hope you all are well and that your MA's are loving where they are.
