Hello
We look forward to hearing about your sailors journey. How he/she likes being an MAA (MA) and which kind of job they are doing and how you are doing knowing what your sailor does for a living.
NOTE: Please help keep our sailors safe. Don't give out exact locations.Example: If he/she is in Iraq you can say Iraq but I would not say the name of the camp or a town near the camp. If they are on a ship don't give the last known location. Although some of that is public we don't in anyway want to jeopardize them.

oh - Kimbokatbo reminded me of something!  My Sailor had Monday off because it was President's Day.  So, if their Monday after PIR is a federal holiday - they may get leave that day also.  My kid begged me to stay another day (we didn't know he was off until Sunday morning - I had already checked out of the hotel - and was geared up to tell him good bye). We changed my flight, went back to the hotel, and etc.

At PIR we
Looked forward to our day with Chris, kiss him goodnight & goodbye 10 minutes to 20:00 ( long walk to barracks). Drove back to the hotel thinking of leaving that night back to NC. So glad we didn't!! He woke us up at 04:24 (yeah, I do recall the time) to say they're transport to Midway had dropped them off for an 06:30 flight that was really at 06:30 PM!! 15 newborn squids were cooling their heels till the flight. We dressed, packed & set a land speed
record to the airport!! We got an extra half day with him. Thank the NAVY for not proof reading the itinerary!

my husband left the next saturday morning after PIR for A school as a MAA , it really depends, every division is different with when they leave.. He told us probably about the 5th week at bootcamp for sure when he was leaving.

Thanks Brenda Sue and Chriscwick. Do they get that info the week of PIR or do they get that info sooner so we know if we should book our flights for late Saturday or Sunday?  Most of the flights back to Florida are early Saturday and I don't want to leave if there is a chance of seeing him on Sat. Anyone know?

The only one that will know that Patttea, is your son.  Mine did not leave for A school until the following Wednesday.  He finished A school in the middle of April and did not get to come home for his first "leave" until the end of May.  Each group is different.

My Chris was "grad n go" after PIR, 14 days leave (after A School) prior to deployment for 2 years in Bahrain. We've got him home on leave (right now) after his first year on duty. Hope this helps?!

Ship 11 Div 273, PIR Aug 26. my son will be going to A school as MAA. Does anyone know if the SR has anytime on Sat for liberty or is he shipped off to A school already? We are trying to figure out our arrangements for Graduation.

ProudNavyMom, there is somewhat of a ceremony when they finish A school - but it is nothing as grand as PIR - but still nice enough.  Most get to come home before going to their next location - which necessarily isn't the next school - but their "assignment" (can't think of the right word).  Mine is stationed in Portsmouth, VA - but spends more time out of the country each year than he is here!

For those on here with loved ones soon to be headed to A School, join San Antonio MA's.

Hi, I'm also new to this. Our son is at Basic Training right now (PIR also in Aug.) and his A School is in San Antonio for MA Schooling. Do they have a graduation from A School? or do they just move on to their next location for additional schooling?
