Hello
We look forward to hearing about your sailors journey. How he/she likes being an MAA (MA) and which kind of job they are doing and how you are doing knowing what your sailor does for a living.
NOTE: Please help keep our sailors safe. Don't give out exact locations.Example: If he/she is in Iraq you can say Iraq but I would not say the name of the camp or a town near the camp. If they are on a ship don't give the last known location. Although some of that is public we don't in anyway want to jeopardize them.

"CC" we had to over-night Chris's bc to him in TX, costly for one sheet of paper, avoid it if possible. He already knew where he was going when he asked for it.

thank you all for the info.  my son asked me yesterday to send him his birth cert and his passport.  i am wondering if this means they have alot of overseas billets or if it is standard practice that they all have to provide these regardless of the locations that will be available. i actually have 2 sons in A school right now, so it is twice the wait and see!

My "sand sailor" is with MommaBecky's sweet baboo in Bahrain. Chris deployed there out of "A" school in June 2010, when he was "voluntold" to go & to sign up for two years. He, too, is enjoying the island principality. Although, he's not had a camel ride as yet!! At the time "they" were enlarging the base & needed personnel. Please do join us on Bahrain Mom's, I've learned a lot, shared some & enjoyed the group's easy commaraderie, caring & humor.

CC0727 - mine son's first duty station has been stateside.  He has gone to several other places stateside for additional training and he has been deployed 3 times for about 6 - 8 months at a time. Like Kyle's mom said - it all depends on the "needs of the Navy."

For the moms whose Sailors are being deployed --  is this their first duty station right out of A school or have they been somewhere stateside first?  Just curious.  My Sailor is in A school and I am wondering if alot of them go overseas right out of the door.

Welcome, you're right where you need to be. Take heart & take care. These ladies are "bobs" ie, best of the best.

Wow, Donna!  Is he going IA or with some squad?  My son is currently on his third deployment - but not there!

MAA Chris heard that too, back in May. He wanted Japan, but was "voluntold" to report to Bahrain for 2 years. He's loving it there. Feels like he's valued by the "brass" and doing a worthwhile job. He says they (brass) are approachable & listen. It's cool there nowadays at 70 degrees! He even asked for flannel sheets for Christmas! I, too, worry each & every day. This is my first Navy Mom deployment of my only child... but this is the job they've chosen, we have to back them up, let them b____ when they want & oooorah when they can. We are NAVY MOMS. Fair winds and following seas ladies! As for the holidays...I listen to "Somewhere out there" from the movie "American Tail:. It brings me some peace and comfort. Hope it does for you too.
