Hello
We look forward to hearing about your sailors journey. How he/she likes being an MAA (MA) and which kind of job they are doing and how you are doing knowing what your sailor does for a living.
NOTE: Please help keep our sailors safe. Don't give out exact locations.Example: If he/she is in Iraq you can say Iraq but I would not say the name of the camp or a town near the camp. If they are on a ship don't give the last known location. Although some of that is public we don't in anyway want to jeopardize them.

styliniroc that would be great.  I'd love to have someone in the same group to talk to!  He set out with 7 ever sailors, so hopefully they have enough for a full class.

Imccartney79, to give you an idea, my daughter arrived 9/20 and her grad date is 11/18. Her classes started right away though. I know some are waiting to class up for a week up to a month, so that could add time on to their stay there. Also, as none of us even want to think about, because we all want to stay positive for our MAA's, if they have any trouble completing anything or passing anything, become sick or injured, they could be possibly set back a week or so, just like boot camp. But we aren't going to think negative thoughts, only positive mojo for our Sailors!

NovaMom, I wonder if he will class up with the group my daughter is in? They did start classes last week, but they were orientation type classes, and actual classes start tomorrow. Congrats to your son!

styliniroc my son just has PIR this past weekend and headed to TX for MA school.  He was supposed to PIR the same day as your daughter.

Hi moms! I started a new discussion called "New MA Journey". My daughter has PIR 9/19 and heads to TX 9/20 to start A School for MA. I want to invite anyone to join the discussion that would like to offer information and advice for new moms! Thanks for your support!

Skype worked well for us when my Sailor was in Suda Bay, Greece and also in Sasebo, Japan. He had an account through Skype so that he could call any phone. If anyone needed to call him, they left him a message and he called when he was able. He also had a cell plan in each of those countries for local calls.

Car seems like a it would be a hassle to send overseas. If he lives on base there may be other means of transportation. He could contact his command to check on options. I talk to my son through fb messaging everyday! :) he does have a phone with prepaid minutes and my son uses magic jack through his computer. Unsure of how all that works. Hope this helps! :)

My son will be heading to Greece....so many questions.  He is thinking about having his truck shipped over.  We are concerned of expensive gas and up-keep.  Also curious about how phones will work over there.  Was certainly hoping for the states....but it does look like a nice place.  Any info would be appreciated!
