Update on Helen's husband:  he is still in the hospital.  He is having dialysis and is going through cardiac testing.

Got a message from Helen (whose daughter left the Navy) - some of you may remember her pic on the member list at right is in right column & 3rd one down. Anyway, her husband was urgently rushed to the hospital this AM. You may remember that he is quite ill. Just heard that he has been admitted at least for overnight & he is more coherent. She asks for prayers for both of them. I told her I'd let you all know.

Hope you all have had a wonderful day!!

Happy Holiday to everyone!  If your sailor is coming home, please give them an extra hug for me.  My son graduated PIR on 12/13, but is still in Great Lakes for a minor medical problem.  Hope he'll be cleared in a couple of weeks to go to Goose Creek.  Look forward to seeing you all in the New Year!

Hello Lovely Ladies!

So glad to hear some news, it's been awhile and I was just thinking of you (Sheryl & Johanna) yesterday.

We are SO VERY LUCKY to have our Sailor coming home for Christmas!

He just finished SAR school and is a newly certified Rescue Swimmer, Hooyah!

I have had a most trying holiday season at work as I lost my assistant the week before Thanksgiving. :(

Hopefully I will have a new hire soon! 12 hour days are really not for me anymore!

I hope you all have a VERY MERRY Christmas and a joyous New Year!

Have to share this. Our Nuke site was looking for. a Nuke Christmas story. I definitely have too much time on my hands!!

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the dorm, not
a Nuke was stirring, not even a worm(hole).
The stockings were hung by the desk with care
in hopes that St. Nuke would soon be there.

The students were nestled all snug in their bunks
while visions of passing grades danced in their heads.
And my roomie and I in our did-gees and caps
had just settled our brains for a MUCH needed nap.

When out on the lawn there a rose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bunk to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a missile,
Tore open the shutters and threw open the vessel (window)... work with me

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reinnuke moms

With a little old driver so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nuke.

More rapid than orals his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

Now Big mamma! Now Johanna! Now CO-TwinSailorsMom and Nancyjo!
on proudmom63 on susank21 on William on B'snukeMoM!

To the top of the dorm, to the top of the mess hall,
now sail away, sail away, sail away all

As the bough of the boat before the wild seas crest,
when they meet with an obstacle mount with the best.

So up to the paramount the Sailors they flew,
with a boat full of wisdom and St Nuke too

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little boot
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the sail St Nuke came with a bound.

He was dressed all in wool from his head to his boot
and his uniform was all shiny from medals and soot

A bundle of passing grades he flung on his back
and he looked like a Chief just opening his pack.
His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin... there was no beard, he's in the Navy!

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!

Obviously, the above paragraph is for another military
branch and not the NAVY... HOOYAH.... ; )))

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
and filled all the requirements, then turned with a jerk.

And laying his finger aside to his nose,
and giving a nod up the sail he rose.

He sprang to his Submarine/Carrier gave an all clear
and away they all sailed like Nuke Reindeer

But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

There are are only eight reindeer in the poem but this is for all the
moms and dads and family's of Nukes... Merry Christmas
