What time is the packing party on the 19th?  I am disappointed, but I probably won't be able to come, but am hoping to see you all at the next one.  Please keep me posted about the 19th just in case things change for me.

I am definitely planning on baking for the 19th.

I am unsure if I will be available for coming to a party, but I will get my "pie's in a jar to you" (Donna/NYPD)) in time for the packing.

Would that work if necessary?

Let's go with a packing party on October 19.  Nothing has changed from the post below, but I really want to have this party.  I will be in PA from 10/9-14, so plenty of time to organize when I get home.

If you can let me know if you'll be able to make it before the 9th, it would really help.  That way if we need more room, I can make arrangements ahead of time.  We can chat about the party in the discussion above.

Anyone else think they could be hostess for the packing party in October?  Some difficult things have come up for me and I'm not even certain at this time where I will be living.  Likely still in MA, but even that is up in the air.  I could be in NY with Matthew.  But could even be with my sister in PA.  No, I don't have a place there yet, just going there to get away from everything here.  She wants to "take care of me" for a while.  Long story.  Too long for here.  I am ready to start baking.  Thinking I might do that this week-end and freezing the cookies and decorating them later when it is closer to shipping time.

We can chat about it in the discussion above.

Everyone, thank you for your kind words of support -- they really mean a lot and are very comforting.  Yes, I would like to connect after my son leaves on the 16th and will be in touch!  Thank you all again.

Helen,
I also have 2 sailors who left from Boston MEPS . It's hard to see them go ,but PIR is such a wonderful occasion, if you are able to go .
Just make the most of your son befor he leaves . Lots of good hugs and family time :)
Good luck to you . These ladies are a wonderful group . I'm in SC now but they are still my sisters and partners in crime :) all for a good cause of course .

Helen, my son's PIR is two weeks after Nausetmom's and it is getting easier and since we live in the same town, any time you want to get together, let me know!  Also, I mailed two packages this week to the sailors!!  It was really fun.  Next time I hope to be able to come to the packing party.
