Do you have a Christmas Tree Store near you?  I went to one last night, told them about our packing parties and they gave me a stack of Family & Friends coupons specifically for Navy Moms to use!!  They are for 20% off every item that you purchase!  There are multiple coupons on the page so you can share them if you'd like.

I bought a 99 cent item and got 20% off that too!!  So if you want some let me know right away.  They are only good until Nov. 13.

Sheryl & I will try to get a wish list for our big Dec. 2nd packing party up in the next few days so that you can use the coupons for that too.

CT Moms are really talking about this party now, so come on MA Moms, this is an event planned by MA Moms, let's not be outnumbered ...

Hello Navy Moms

Sorry I haven't been online too much, but I wanted to give you all an update on
our 3Moms 1Mission. We had our fund raising  event to raise money to send care packages to the USS Eisenhower, a Army Unit that recently left for Afghanistan, an Air Force squadron serving in Russia and some Marines on the USS Palau. The event was held at the VFW in Hudson, NH (which was donated). We sold 240 tickets to attend the event. We sold out! Amazing just to say that. The event was an evening filled with raffle items, food, a 50/50, a door prize and a live band from MA call Over6 who rocked the house with their rendition of Star Spangle Banner which they learned in 3 days for The 3Moms who honored all that had served and all that are serving. We also dedicated the night to each of our sons Serving today, 5 in all. The night was a true success raising just over $8K! We have been shopping like crazy for items and still have hope that a local business will help us with our shipping. Our Packing Pa rty isset for Nov. 11th at 11am at the American Legion on the corner of Central St. & Fulton St. in Hudson NH (which has been donated for the day) for anyone that would like to join us!.

Oh, Lauren, I'm happy you got that "I love you".  Hoping that carries you for days - weeks, even!!

A packing party is when everyone who wants to participate gathers in one place, bringing items from the "wish list" of the group we are adopting, bringing along a snack to share.  Then we spread out, put together boxes, pack our items, fill out paperwork, mailing labels & customs forms and just have fun being together talking about our kids mostly, but anything else that comes to mind.  Time to get some emotional support from other moms, share stories, and sometimes just plain ol' girl talk. And of course, eat our snacks!  I just love packing parties!!

Oh, and we also write cards, notes or letters to the men and women receiving the boxes - just general because we don't have their names of course.  Sometimes someone gets a group of children to write things or draw pictures and we include them as well.  But we usually do this at home and then just add them to the boxes.

Someone in the Molly's Adopt A Sailor group shared a helpful hint for notes, etc. -- tuck some notecards or whatever into a baggie and keep it in your purse with a pen, then when you are stuck in some waiting room you can whip it out and get a note or 2 written while you wait.  I'm going to try that this week as I have 3 appts.  I'll let you know how many I get done!!  Hmmm, waiting in a doc's office?  Who knows, that could be a LOT of notes!  lol  (better than fuming at the wait, right?)

We haven't had one for a while, but hopefully soon!!  I'm sending you a PM - just wanted to tell you so you could be looking for it.
