Hello Everybody!
I know that I've said this before, but it still applies -- I'm so sorry for not being involved and "out there". So many things have happened over the past 3 years since my hubby died. Health problems & financial issues for me; serious problems with both of my sons. The list goes on and on it seems at times.
But I'd really like to get things moving again if we can. So I'm just throwing this out there to see if anyone might be interested in a packing party in August??
The group has been chosen, but no info yet. But I thought we might start gathering things to make some really great boxes for the sailors on this boat. We can just start with the usual items for now.
Let me know if you might be interested in hosting the packing party.
Hi Ladies! I know I've been MIA for awhile, sorry. Been concentrating on work and sending my deployed Sailor care packages every 2 weeks.
But,I really want to get back involved! Let me know where and when and I'll be at the packing party if I can.
I hope all of you are well and your Sailors/Warriors are safe and happy!!
Donna, great idea, but need details -- when, where, etc. Thanks!
Along the same line of doing something to get our group out there. The town of Foxboro has their annual founders day coming up in June. As a non-profit entity, Massachusetts Navy Moms could get a booth and promote our cause. We can also raise money. I was thinking we might pack a couple of "sample" adoption packages and ask for sponsors of a box. Also, provide some paper for children to draw pics and paper for notes to add to packages.
Check out the website: www.foxboroughfoundersday.com
The date is Saturday, June 13th. The deadline for booth registration is 5/29.
Just trying to think outside the box. There's usually a lot of booths on the field and everyone is just out having a good time. Let's talk about it.
Hello Everyone!
I was wondering if anyone is interested in coming to a packing party for the next adoption? We haven't done anything in a while now -- I guess we should get started and do something about that?
Any takers?
Good Morning Everyone! I'm sorry I've turned into a MIA MA Navy Momma! Adjusting to my new life has been much much harder this 2nd year and I've taken to hibernation. Not a good thing, I know, but...
I've also been busy with MAS Board behind the scenes on some things. Just a little heads up before announcing: Special Hugs is going to have to be shut down for now. With the scaling back of troops and the closing of sites we have no one to send to. So we are re-considering the whole project and where it should go.
Along those lines, I have about 50 beanie babies stored in various parts of my home!! I've talked this over and it has been approved that we can take these beanies, meant for the wounded in the sandbox, and deliver them to VA Hospitals. I have not yet made any calls to hospitals, but if anyone would like to take some and make a visit to a hospital (HAS to be VA) please contact me. And we will work something out.
I'd love to get some over to Spaulding Rehab too if possible. We may not be able to visit specifically with vets because of HIPPA regs, but maybe something can be worked out with the volunteer office. Just a thought.
So is anyone interested?? We have time to get a visit in before Christmas. Remember, talk to someone in the Volunteer Office to ask before bringing candy, sweets, or really any food items. We just need to be sensitive. All the Beanies will have to have tags tied onto them saying they are from Molly's Adopt A Sailor / MA Navy Moms, but you can certainly add your own card as well.
Any questions, feel free to ask.
To All Our New MA Mommas & any who haven't been involved in a while:
I just copied the October Adoption of GITMO from MAS and made a new discussion above. This will make it easier for you to see who the packages are going to and what they have requested, along with special "Mom" ideas that the Mom of the Month added. Check it out everyone and tell me what you think.
