I was chatting with my DIL yesterday & she got me thinking ahead to the holidays.
Anyway, I was curious if any Moms would like to plan to get together to bake some pies in a jar to send to our adoptees in Nov. & Dec.? Maybe not right now, but when the weather cools a bit and there isn't so much humidity - so we don't wilt in the kitchen. Canning jars will be going on sale soon, if not already, so we could start by picking up some cases (of 12) a few at a time until we are ready to bake.
HI MOMS!! I just wanted to let you know that I put 3 pics from our packing party in the Iwo Jima discussion. Does anyone else want to add any pics before we just close the discussion???
PS I think the picture of us is great. What a lovely group of women...
Please pray for my son and the NYPD. There was a shooting near the Empire State Building this AM. 2 killed, 8 injured. I think my son is still finishing up his certifications to go back on duty beginning next week. But, he would have been in Manhattan this AM.
NOT what I needed to hear about, for sure. But it wasn't a terrorist attack which is somewhat calming.
Thanks girls!
Thank you for the pictures Darlene! What a wonderful photographer you are!!
I haven't even gotten around to downloading my photos yet. Maybe later today after I go to New Hope to fill out the paperwork (again!) for a background check. That has to be completed before I can start volunteering. BUT I will do the pics asap.
It was wonderful meeting you. Yes, do let Massachusetts Navy Moms know when your party is and where. There are so many who live up in your corner of the world, you'd likely get some cross-overs. Me included, if it isn't too far north!!!
Hi All,
Thank you all so much for inviting me to your packing party. I can’t wait to have one in NH in November. Once I have a date you’ll all be the first to know! I enjoyed meeting all of you and hearing about your Sailors. Sheryl, if you ever need any help please feel free to reach out to me. With all the craziness of fun-raising for the troop, working and family, I will always make the time J
Donna – I wish you much happiness as you turn a new chapter in your journey. I know you have a big heart just by doing all of this; you are going to fill the void for so many you come in contact with. Best of luck to you.

Hmmmm! Thanks for finding that tidbit in MAS. May have to go and buy some chocolate after all. I know our Dr. Jim wrote me that except for the extreme summer-time in A'stan, solid chocolate bars remain somewhat solid. But the miniatures, kisses and any filled chocolate candy was chocolate soup.
