Just a few things - if anyone is planning to send pkgs. to this month's adoptees, someone has already claimed the 15 female marines.

There is a sailor that needs prayer, Brian X.  He is an MA at King's Bay who very suddenly fell ill and was medi-vac'd to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA. He was just diagnosed w/acute t-cell leukemia/lymphoma.  His wife and infant daughter (we are talking only weeks old) are currently w/him in Atlanta. She is staying in a hotel about 6-9 mi. from the hospital.  Does anyone have a connection with someone in Atlanta who might be able to reach out to this young wife and mom??

Rec'd my daily update from the Navy.  All military personnel have been stopped from transferring to Japan at this time and until further notice.  Reason is to not add to the demand for food, fuel, water, etc.  You can check out the full news release at:   http://www.navy.mil/search/display.asp?story_id=59149

Jennifer and Central MA ~~ have you heard any more from your sons?  How are YOU?  Navy Mom HUGS>> to you both!

On a separate line, please remember Jennifer's son is in Behrain.  The news this morning from there is troubling.  Saudi troops are moving and some are actually in Behrain to support the royal family there.  Her son has been told to stay inside his apt. except to go out to work.  That doesn't sound like a very safe situation.  Perhaps you can remember Jennifer and her son in your prayers?  Maybe drop her a PM.  I think she would appreciate the support of her MA Navy Moms.

Central MA, how are things with your son in Japan?  Let us know how we can help you.

And, me, well my grandbaby is now officially overdue.  I will leave a comment here when she decides to make her arrival!

Isn't it great to see those happy faces?!!  When I found it I cried that something so simple would bring such smiles.

ALSO, word from Molly's on FB.  The XO on the USS Preble came back from seeing Japan and asked the sailors if they had anything they could donate to the people. Well, OUR children brought their extra civilian clothes, blankets and emptied their personal food staches (sp?) to be taken back by helicopter!!  It is making me cry all over again.  Our kids are so generous, not even considering themselves.  Molly's Adopt a Sailor (MAS) is working on a mail blitz to them of letters and cards thanking them for what they did.

IF you want to be a part of it, start writing letters and cards now addressed to any sailor.  When I get more info I will post it here, so be looking for it.  We did such a great job with mail in Feb. I'm certain we can do it all again!!!   :)

Let's show the Preble how proud we are of them!!!!!!!!

Did you see this pic?  Looks like some of the mail we gathered at our packing party in Feb.  Not absolutely sure, but could be!!!

I am so glad to hear that Central MA.  What a relief for you.  Take care.

In case anyone is interested, this month's adoptees in MAS are 300 Marines in the mountains of Afghanistan.  They are all huge baseball fans, so they are doing boxes with a baseball theme - you know peanuts, Cracker Jacks, that sort of thing.  We've also been gathering items from all the MLB teams to put into a scrapbook.  The Red Sox have sent me some things which I plan to send to them along with some snacks and some of their requests.

If anyone is interested, check out Molly's Adopt a Sailor.  The discussion is "Marching to Afghanistan".  If you want to know about the baseball stuff, the discussion is MLB contacts, something like that - I can't remember the name, & I'm the one who wrote it --- what does that say about me??  Guess I have too much going on right now.  We even got the commissioner to write a letter to the Marines.  But we cannot seem to crack the NY Yankees.  They just outright said "No", apparently they are too busy with requests!  I'm thinking about getting some Yankee Hater logos to go in it ... only kidding!!  Sort of.  No really, I wouldn't do that because some of those Marines may be yankee fans.  Poor kids. LOL

Kathy, my prayers are certainly with your daughter and her shipmates on the Enterprise.  What a mess north Africa is in!  Praying for all our kids and especially those in harm's way.

Did you hear about the sailors killed at Camp Pendleton during a training mission?  Apparently their humvee flipped over killing 2 and severely injuring a 3rd.  No word yet on how the 3rd one is doing.

Still on "baby watch"!  DIL is getting anxious.  She is a tiny thing, but right now she is huge and can barely walk because the baby is so low.  Poor thing she can't sleep and can't get comfortable no matter what she does.  Hopefully it'll be soon.

Have still not gotten a definite date for the Community Charity Sewing of pc's for our adoptees in April.  She still talks about it all the time, but just hasn't set a date.  I've decided not to buy any fabric from her until she sets a date for our event.  I'm hoping it will be in April after I get home from helping with the new baby.  My cell won't work at my son's home in NY, but I'm certain he will let me use his computer for Molly's and MA Navy Moms.  He is just amazed at what we do.  He thought it was some little project, a few Moms writing letters and sending a few care packages once in a while.  BOY, was he surprised!!!

Hope all is well with everyone.  I'll post a pic once the little one makes her arrival so you can see her.

Jennifer and Priscilla, thoughts and prayers go out to your sons and to you both too.  Take care and know we all have your backs.

Any other MA Navy Moms with kids in the Med?  We want to be supportive of all our kids - we just need to know how to help.  Please, let us help.

Priscilla,

I just got an email from Tammy.  She had the other names and was going to forward it all to the POC on the Kearsarge.  She just felt it wasn't fair for one sailor to be singled out when their were 5 or 6 others whose families were also involved.  I was so glad she discovered that piece of news and chose to do something about it.  Will your son mind the attention?

Hang in there, Priscilla!  We are ALL here for you and any other Moms with kids in the Med.
