Thanks Priscilla!  I'll email Tammy right away so your son is recognized for his family's part in everything.

Keep in touch.  Know that I'm praying for your son and all our kids in the Med.  We don't know what the future holds for Libya or anywhere for that matter, but we can put our trust in the One who holds the future.

Take care,

Donna

Priscilla

TammyP is in the process of contacting the POC on the Kearsarge.  Apparently they recognized a sailor of one the Kearsarge families who helped with the packing party in IL.  But she had 4 or 5 more and she knew about you and your daughter helping out.  She asked me to get his name, which I already know - Charles, but she wanted to know his rank or rate.  She wants all the sailors to be recognized for the help that their families were in getting all those packages to the Kearsarge.  Do you mind giving me that info?  Also, same last name?

Thanks, I appreciate it and so will Kimmy.

Sorry for the long space.  Diane hasn't gotten that far in my "lessons" on how to do this!!  Oh, Diane, what did I do wrong???

Well, that one worked!!  So I'll try the photo from the Lowell Sun which was on the front page of the local news section!  (Thanks for sending the pic Tami)  It is more publicity for our MA Navy Moms. WHOO YAH.

I'm hoping this link will work.  Molly sent me the link to an article in the local Danvers paper re:MA Navy Moms & our last packing party.  Priscilla, did you coordinate this?  It is wonderful!!  If I didn't do the link correctly, maybe you can put it here for everyone to see?  Have you heard from your son or anyone yet?

Actually, if anyone gets an email or snail mail, make sure you post it here on MA Navy Moms and on Molly's Adopt a Sailor for all to see and enjoy.  We know they don't have lots of time to write so any messages are shared for all to see what our packages mean to the sailors and marines we shipped to.

Thanks.

Hi Moms!  I hope you are finishing up a relaxing week-end.  I didn't like seeing the snow this am, but they say warmer and rain tomorrow - that appeals to me!!

I was in Molly's site today.  They announced the adoptees for March.  I know we have nothing planned, but if anyone wants to be involved in some way with this group, let's talk about it.  They are 300 Marines (which includes 15 women) in the mtns. of A-stan.  They LOVE baseball.  So the plan is to send them baseball themed snack items along with the basics (soap, deodorant, shampoo, etc....you know the list).  I'm going to try to put a few things together before I officially go on "baby watch detail"!!  If you want more info go to the Molly's Adopt a Sailor page and look up the March adoptees (be sure you are looking at 2011's).

I've heard from a couple about the Special Hugs.  Either leave a comment here or PM me with your thoughts.

I just looked through all the MA Navy Moms members and there are lots I don't recognize - new to the group perhaps??  Hey, join in the discussions.  There's lots going on and we are limited only by the distance between us which is tough in the winter but it'll be better soon.  Or maybe look through and find someone near you to get together with.

Take care and have a good Monday!

Luv ya all,

Donna

Jennifer,

Everything is going along fairly well.  I lost an aunt last week, one of my Dad's sisters which leaves us with one remaining aunt (his sister).  It has been hard on her - she lost her husband and now all her siblings in 2010-2011.

I saw my DIL Thursday-Friday, the boys were going together to a concert in Madison Square Garden, but my son really didn't want her home alone so Mom got to go for the ride. She is doing well, but she looks like she is about to burst!!  Doc says nothing is happening yet ... so we wait.

I can't really set a date for anything in March as I will be on "baby-watch" detail!!  Can't wait tho.  I'm PM you so we can talk some more.

Take care everyone.

Hi Moms!

I was just reading in Special Hugs that they are hoping to send pillows and pillowcases in March.  The hospital at Dwyer is low on pillows and many don't have one!  They are also trying to gather newer released movies for the patients.  Do we want to push this as our project for March/April??

Just remember, Special Hugs has no money so anything we put together is going to have to be paid for by us.  I could probably come up with a small donation towards it, but if we come thru like we usually do, it would simply be too much for me.  Something to think about when you consider this.

Check out Special Hugs - it is one of the discussions under Molly's Adopt A Sailor.

Let me know your thoughts on this.  Or, we can just wait until our next packing party (with Pepsi $$s) in April/May...

Hello Moms!!

Just a quick update on the community charity sewing day.  I spoke with the owner/manager (Sue) yesterday.  She is really excited about it and she and her staff have been looking at dates.  Still considering the end of March/beginning of April.

I know that Plainville/N. Attleboro is a distance for many of you.  But Please consider coming for the day.  Since MA Navy Moms & Molly's are the charities of choice, I really feel we need to be there to make a presence.  I'll promise you some light supper at my house after the event so you won't have to travel home on empty tummies!!!  My home is around the corner, up a hill, turn left, then right -- see how easy?

Also, I know that money for fabric may be an issue for some so do I have an announcement to make to you all now:  I have been authorized by MAS to spend $200 on fabric for Navy moms/family members who want to come, but might be held back by the cost.

Sue also told me that she has ordered some new patriotic fabrics especially for this event.  She will call me when it comes in so MA Moms can have first pick!  She has been so helpful and just so anxious to be supportive of our efforts.

Please leave your comments about this event.  I just don't want it falling on its face for her or us.  Especially since she is arranging for publicity.  I'm hoping to get some sort of story out of the local paper as well.  (Wish me luck!)
