Good Morning, Moms!  If you want to see some pictures from Saturday, check out the Feb. 2011 packing party above.  Also, I posted some pictures from our event on the comment wall in Molly's Adopt a Sailor.

We did 26 packages and one large mailing envelope for more valentine's drawings.

Thanks again to everyone!!

Good morning! I feel lucky to have met so many great ladies. We got so much done and had some laughs too. Donna, thank you for putting all of this  together. You really motivate this chapter to keep going. All of the info and time you put in is appreciated. See you all next time! :)

Our packing party today is done.  It was a HUGE success.  Pictures will follow probably tomorrow since both Tami and I are exhausted

A big thank you to all the moms who volunteered today and got everything packed and ready to go.  Thank you also to the girl scouts who stayed an wrote cards and letter and drew  some pretty amazing pics.  We appreciate your help!  Thank you again.

Jennifer,

Thank you for the offer.  I was concerned about the snack part for the packages, but with the GS cookies that took care of that.  If you see any beef jerky or any individually packed snack items, but don't go crazy looking for them.  How about toothbrushes and/or toothpaste?  All these snacks  -- they better be brushing and flossing!  LOL  See you soon.

Hi MA Moms.  Do I have news for you!!!!

We are going to have 62 boxes of GS cookies to pack with our other things tomorrow!!  Thank you, Tami's daughter!!  Can you imagine those sailors and marines when they see the GS cookies!!  Bet they are gone in an hour, maybe less!  LOL

Also, the Lowell Sun (local paper) is promising a photographer and possibly a reporter to come to our packing party.

Now don't freak out anyone & please don't cancel, we need bodies there too don't forget.  You are all Navy Moms & you all know what we are doing and why.  You all have enough passion to light a bonfire.  And you can tell your own story if need be, so The Sun will get a great story however they choose to do it.

Please do your best to remember to bring a picture of your sailor.  After all isn't that what got us all involved in this project?  I have no idea how anything will go, but we all will be fine.  I told the paper that the event is 2:30p  BUT don't forget it is really 1:30p.  That gives us time to unload our items, get organized & hopefully sit down and talk for a minute or 2.

I hope you all are as excited as Tami and I are.  Everyone has worked so hard for this party and tomorrow we get to be together and have fun putting it all together.  Then we'll sit and just revel in what was accomplished.

Priscilla, I never thought of scissors.  Yes, we will need some to cut the packing tape and put our boxes together.  If you'd like to bring a snack that would be very nice, I'm sure we'll work up an appetite between working, writing and laughing (a lot I hope).  One thing I found we didn't have left over from before were large, like freezer size or 1 gal. size plastic zip-locks.  Also maybe a box of sandwich size also.  But only if you are heading out.  Tami and I haven't had our talk today, but I can't think of anything else.  I'll leave a comment or Tami will if we think of anything else while we're going over "stuff".  Only the rest of today and tomorrow and it will be time for our party!!!!!

I'm so excited it is hard to contain myself ...  See you Sat.

Hi Pauline!  I had family who lived in Fairhaven years and years ago (they were my great-aunts and uncles who have long since died).  Small world though isn't it?  But then we keep discovering connections however small to one another.  Like Lowell, I used to work there!

Think about it, a packing party in May on the coast sounds wonderful to me.  And by then the weather will be lovely & everyone will be smiling again.

I am so sorry your sailor has been gone so long.  I hope you get to see him very, very soon and perhaps a phone call will come your way before then too.  We are here for you anytime.  We've all had that horrible ache that actually hurts.  Here's a big Navy Mom hug just for you ... hope you can feel it.
