To all Moms who canNOT make the packing party in Lowell:

We really want to include everyone in what is going on.  My gosh we have 192 members here.

I know the winter weather is a huge factor in this one and it is a distance for some of you.  It is hard to travel any distance in the winter.  Is that a factor in your not being able to go?  Let us know that.  Lowell and Wellesley aren't the only places in the state we can have a party.  We can bring one to you.

SOOOOOO, please let's get some discussion going on this.  Things like how often (ie maybe just 3-4 times a year); location - do we move it around or try to find something in central MA?

Also, some have mentionned to me they liked the social times too.  Sounds good to me, let's have a party -- maybe one to welcome spring in April, something happy to look forward to.  Maybe someone would like to take the lead on planning that. (We will all help, just a lead person.)  Question here is where to have it -- in a home or go out??  Do we want to include the Navy Dads, or the men in our lives?  Make it a "date night"?  I know money is tight for so many of us so let's hear from others so that everyone gets a chance to enjoy the fun!!!

I look at the postings and I see my name so often I'm embarressed.  Some others of you likely have connection with Molly's Adopt A Sailor?  If you see something you want us to do, just say it!  I'm waiting for the day someone says "Hey, I'm here too... and let's do such and such."

Please understand my feelings behind this comment.  I am not the know-it-all.  I most certainly am not the "boss."  We all are passionate about our son/daughter and all the military in general.

Take care all of you.  Enjoy the sunshine if you have it, but watch out for that wind.  It is only 9 degrees on my back deck in Plainville and here it is nearly 10A.

Good morning Moms!

Just wanted you to know I was thinking about you all.  I am so anxious to see some of you again and meet others for the first time.

Don't forget to bring a pic or a story about your sailor to share.  Let's have a party and do some packing and or writing on the side...

Kathy, 2 rolls would be great!  Thanks.  Saturday is going to be so much fun, I can feel it in my bones.  Oh wait, maybe it is the cold?!  Either way I'm excited.

This has been a very exciting day for me.  If you check out Molly's Adopt a Sailor group you can read what I did.  Otherwise, do I have some news for you all.  I didn't put everything into the comments on "Molly's".  Some things have to be saved for just us MA Moms.  I'll need all your input, thoughts, suggestions, you name it before we can proceed much further, but I can guarantee you all that it will make the rest of the country sit up and take notice of what a small group of MA Moms can do.

And that my dear new friend, is all I'm going to say.  What do they call them - movie "teasers"??  If that is right, then that is what this message is a teaser to all who read it!

Central MA Mom, don't you worry about being left out.  I'll be looking for you high and low to help.  Have fun at your meeting on Sat.  Let me know how things turn out, OK?

Hi Jennifer, I can't believe I have to admit this but I lost Tami's address!  She's working now so I'll try sending her an email and then get back to you.  Is your page private to friends only?  I was just thinking maybe I could write out my phone number so you could call me and I could get you the address.  Or, we could do it the other way since my page is private and I'm pretty certain you are a friend with access.  Let me contact Tami.

I picked up some boxes today (at another PO) I think I have 20 so we have more than enough I am sure.

Anyone able to bring some packing tape to the party to help put the boxes together?  I just checked my supplies & want to be sure that we have enough.

Thanks Moms.  Can't wait to see you.

PS  Don't forget to bring along a pic of your sailor or a story to tell.  It is good to know what's going on with one another's child.   Until Saturday.

How is the mail coming along?  Did we get any takers on helping with that?  Check under the packing party discussion, but it looks like we may be able to get some devotional books sent too.  Central MA is working on that.  Thanks again Central MA.

Are you all getting excited about this party?  The USS Kearsarge is going to be surprised what a little state like MA can do.  I'm just hoping there are sailors or marines from MA on board.  Nothing like a little dose of hometown pride!

Everyone getting ready for next Saturday?  Let's hope for a day like today.  That would be perfect!!  Better start praying now for a quiet weather week next week and then a nice mild sunny Saturday.  Could we hope for a late January thaw on Feb. 12?

A PM from Molly I got this am.:

HOOYAH HOOYAH HOOYAH !!!!!!!!!   Packing Party in MA again ------------you are rocking this :) HECK YES !!!    ((hey this time can you dress her like a leprachan with a pepsi ??   LOL LOL LOL

I returned the message with a no leprachan, but we'll still try to knock your socks off!  Tami & I were talking about an idea.  Since this group wants mail, we'd like to try and send at least a med. size shipping box with just letters & cards.  That will be a big undertaking for us, but I know we can do it if we all get involved and get our friends, family & neighbors to help us out.

If you can't make the packing party you can send them to me or Tami and we'll add them to the rest.  IF you can fill a box yourself - 1st be sure to take a picture of the box full & 2nd let me know right away I can get postage for you to ship it from your local PO at no cost to you, but the box count has to be verified by Tami and me together.  Its a Pepsi rule for using their grant money.

So MOMs start writing, some of you are stuck inside.  If you are out to work, maybe you can get a group to write some cards during a coffee break?  Anything to fill up that box.

Let's blow Molly's socks off with this one!!!  Come on, we can do it.

Congratulations Helen!!  How exciting.  April certainly is soon.  Your mind must be spinning with things to do, I know mine sure would!  Keep us up to date on how things are going.  I can't imagine a wedding in 2 months.  Give your daughter our best wishes when you talk to her again.

Take care.

I don't know how many of you are aware of what happened on the USS Halsey (one of the ships adopted for January). The group adopted are the SaberHawks & their job is search and rescue.  The USS Halsey lost a sailor overboard not too long ago - a female sailor, not that sex matters.  I was thinking we should send some notes and cards to help lift their morale.  Valentine cards, "I'm thinking of you" cards & handwritten notes would be great.  Bring them to the packing party and we will get them ready and ship them to the contact person on the Halsey.  Anyone interested in doing this??
