Hi Lesli! Another get together sounds wonderful to me - thefirst one was so much fun. I loved meeting you, George & the others. Anytime is good for me. We did a Saturday lunch, maybe an evening would be good for some of the others?? Let me know how I can help. Take care and tell George hello from me. My son, Andrew, says he knows how George feels missing his brother & sends him a message to hang in there, keep writing to his brother & he'll see him before he knows it! Take care, Donna

Hi everyone! We finally got the results of Andrew's 2nd EEG - the doc says, "It is better than the first." I hate that, it tells us nothing. Andrew, of course, does not want his mom going to his appts. but I wish he'd ask more questions. That first seizure was/is the only one - thank you all for your prayers. He's taking his meds, but still can't drive. Last Thurs. he lost his job because he can't drive so he can't make deliveries. I didn't think they could do that but they did. He is so discouraged because now he has no job either. I don't know what he will do. Returning to Bridgewater to finish his degree is on hold since he would have to commute and there is the driving issue again. Seems like he just can't catch a break no matter how hard he tries. I'm hoping he'll agree to going for a 2nd opinion but I'm waiting until after the holidays. Thanks everybody for caring & for all your prayers for my family.
Matthew was in a bad car accident about 12 days ago. On his way to the Navy base in Groton & a coyote dashed out & ran right into his car. He lost control of the car, spun around, hit a rock, was airborn, came down on 2 wheels & thought he was going to roll over, but hit a guard rail which knocked the car back onto all 4 tires. Totaled the car. He ended up with a moderate concussion and lots of bumps and bruises. This has been a tough fall for us. I'm anxious about his going to Afghanistan but being home hasn't been terribly safe for both of my sons either.
Hope you are all doing well. Will any of you get to see your sailor for Christmas? I hope so since we will get to see our's. Take care.

Hi Kathy, I want you to know that we appreciate the recommendation of Lahey Clinic in Burlington. We had been thinking about a "Boston" second opinion & Lahey surely counts as that. Good to know they are specialists. Still waiting for final results from local doc. Would feel better if we could take the test results & notes with us. I don't know why but I didn't get an email that you had left the message about Lahey, can't figure out why. The button is on to email me when comments are left. In the meantime I'll have to keep checking. Thanks again, Donna

Thank you everyone for your prayers and good wishes. My Dad came thru just fine. I'm the nurse in the family so I'm packing & dressing the wound every day & of course checking in throughout the day - need a new dressing, pain? Stuff like that. Andrew is better than we thought. Got a call from the neuro doc yesterday saying EEG was abnormal & needed to be seen ASAP. Of course he has no regular MD! We were very concerned about the MRI too, the Center side of the family has had 3 deaths due to brain cancers & 2 of them were diagnosed around 27 yrs. old. Andrew turns 27 today. Doc called back saying come to his office at 8AM today. He did have a grand mal seizure, but not sure if it was a 1 time thing. He's on meds and can't drive for 6 months. I think the no driving will be the toughest, but the doc has to notify the RMV so if he's stopped he's in big trouble. He's still hoping to go back to school in Jan. I hope it works out and he can. Thank you all again for your support. I really needed it.
Take care,
Donna
Cindy, praying Dan is "adopted" for dinner! Where in FL is he? We have a few friends & 1 relative in FL maybe he's near to one of them - Pensacola, Jacksonville, & Davie (south FL, ocean side)?? Let me know maybe something can be worked out with one of them.

Hi Pam, Cindy, Lesli, Jennifer (& Bill and George too)! Just wanted to add my thanks for being able to get together with lunch with you all. It was so much fun. I hope we can plan another time to get together - perhaps include all the guys this time?! Sorry it took so long to add this comment. Would really appreciate your prayers for Andrew (my younger son). Wed. he had a major seizure- never had one before. Twice I thought he would need CPR, thank God he started breathing on his own both times. Also, my father is having surgery for lump on his neck on Tuesday. Having a hard time not being anxious about both of them. Andrew has an MRI Mon. and then an appt. w/a neurologist on the 30th. Talk to you soon, Donna

REMINDER: This is your final chance to sign up for lunch on Saturday at Bertucci's, Mansfield Crossings, Mansfield, MA. We currently have 7, anyone want to make it 8, 9, 10...? You can post a reply/comment on Massachusetts Navy Moms or click on sign up for lunch under discussions. I will check both places around 6pm tonight and then call to give them our number. In case you don't know we are all ordering separately so you can get as much or as little as you wish & have your own check. Dress is going to be casual - jeans & Navy t-shirt if you have one. Everyone is going single, except Lesli who is bringing her Navy son w/her. All Navy sons/daughters are welcome too. We will put together a box if you want to bring something(s) for it. That is it in a nutshell. Check link above if you're wondering about something it may give you an answer or leave a message for Central Mass Mom or me. We'll get back to you w/any info you need. Hope you can come, Donna (aka Proud Navy/NYPD Mom).

Hey, Magnetic are you coming for lunch next Saturday? I hope so! I'm really looking forward to meeting another Navy mom who used to live in Mansfield and is close by. I saw the Sun Chronicle this morning and my heart aches for that young mother and the family from N. Attleboro. I can't imagine losing someone with only a week to go and who was coming home just in time to be here for the birth of his 2nd child. What do you think of bringing several sympathy cards to lunch that we could send? I know he was a Marine, but there is a connection with Navy/Marines, but besides that he was from our state. Hope to hear from you and really hope to see you!
Take care,
Donna

Hi ALL Navy Massachusetts' Moms! Well I met with the manager at Bertucci's this morning. She said that they would be pleased to host our first meeting to get to know each other. The room that they have holds 41 easily. She put a hold on that room so no matter how many come it will be ours to use. I told her that we'd like to be able to meet at 11:30 AM - which is fine with her. As for menu, we can either order separately from the menu or she gave me a list of suggested "party" menus. I'll try to get my son to scan it into the computer so I can send it along.
So, Central MA Mom and Magnetic you can get the next thing going - a sign up for who is coming & getting directions together to put out.
I can hardly wait until November 7th!
Hope all you Navy MA's Moms will try to be there. It'll be so great to meet in person the people who have been supportive to each of us. Take care & have a good week-end.

Magnetic, are you thinking of the Bertucci's in Mansfield Crossing? That would be a great place to meet since you can connect with so many highways right in that general area. Mansfield Crossing is literally just around the corner from where I live (I live on West Street in Mansfield - the street with Shaw's on one side and the pony farm on the other). Do you want me to go over and talk to the manager at Bertucci's and see what he has to say about using their meeting room for our own private lunch space?
