I'm throwing out 2 dates for Sherwood's:  Sat. July 26 at 1:00 or Sun. Aug. 10 at 2:00.

Congratulations to your Sailor Colleen!!

I am in for Sherwood's depending on when it is!!

Our Marine is heading across to Norfolk to hang out with his Sailor brother for the weekend. This weekend will be their last one together for a long while. This makes me sad, it has been so good they have been so close for these past few months. I know they will each miss their time together and miss each other. We are down to 68 days tomorrow when our daughter ships out! So many changes going on! I may just have to follow suit and start doing some good walking when my girl goes, it will be so hard.........*sigh*

Running helps Navygirlsmom!  I run too.  Send newspaper articles with the letters to make her feel like she's still part of "home".

This is active duty re-enlistment, Lori.  In 5 days it will be 5 years in. So 7 when he's done.

Look for your daughters PIR group on N4M...It will be there soon. You will know when you get your letter. It will have the address for all those letters. There are seasoned ladies who lead it and you get the opportunity to go on the roller coaster ride of your life with the other moms who have kids graduating on the same day and are riding the same/similar roller coaster!!!. Write cheery letters, tell her how much she is loved and encourage her to keep her chin up even when it gets tough!!! Keep your phone by your side, you may get a call or you may not, but you would sure hate to miss one!!!

Funny things will happen, like stalking the mailman!!! And you will not be alone.

Sometimes if PIR falls on a holiday weekend, they chage it to Thursday instead of Friday.

Enjoy the ride!!!! We will be here to support you!!!

Navygirlsmom - Start writing those letters....that help me immensely!

Comment by Navygirlsmom on July 2, 2014 at 4:44pm

Well...we said our goodbyes and sent our girl on her way! I did much better than I thought I would :-) Held it together (mostly) until after the final call ...then I cried..a bit! Today is much better, although have a little knot in my stomach! So I have decided to start running to help me deal with that anxious feeling...I think it will keep me occupied....and help my waistline as well ;-) we'll see how it goes! Now just waiting for the box and letter! I have a feeling her PIR date will be labor day weekend, may be nice to have the extra day off!

Sherwoods sounds great.  Let me know the date and time.  Hopefully, I can come to this one and meet all you wonderful ladies.

Colleen, congrats to your son.  Was his 2 years suppose to be reserves and just reenlisted them?  My son still has 3 more years on his contract and then 2 after in reserves.  He said he will just reenlist for those and then see what he will do after. His contract was a 5 year.  He is thinking of making this his career.

Michigan Navy Moms thank you for a wonderful time last Sunday it was so inviting and big fun.  Count me in on your next adventure. I appreciate all the prayers for my son.  I am sitting on pins and needles hoping I "do not" get a call today.  Wish us luck and prayers.  Kind regards MiMom
