Welcome, Grandma Nana, PIR is inspiring and emotional so take the tissues and just enjoy your time with your sailor. My sailor has been in since Feb 2009 and signed on for 3 years beyond his 6 so he's in until 2018. He is a nuke sailor on a submarine. Be watchful of our meetups in the Grand Rapids area when the weather improves. Hope you can join us!

Colleen - How disappointing after ALL that time and effort that you put into the quilt.  Someone was very fortunate to get such a TREASURE for so little.

So glad you were able to spend time with Uli, your nephew and family on your trip.

Come on now, Colleen, tell us how you really feel about winter! Our subdivision still has a lot of ice on the roads and people are parking a foot off the curb and no sign of it melting this week.

Welcome Grandma nana!

Made the trip to A2.  The roads were okay after Lowell going east.  My quilt only went for $150.  That's what my material costs were.  They didn't put it in the live auction.  They said they had enough "big" things for the live part and they weren't sure if the quilt would stir up "big" interest since it's kind of a nitch thing.  My cousin didn't push it.  So, I'm not sure if I want to invest 200 hours in making a quilt like that again.  I had a good time with family.  Found Ann Arbor Sewing Store or Quilt Shop (not sure of the exact name) on Jackson Rd.  Holy Moly!  Cathie Renee, we have got to go there!  I have never seen so many batiks in all my life!  Hundreds of them!  My eyeballs fell out of my head.  I also visited my nephew.  He & his girlfriend had a baby last week.  And I saw Uli, everybody!  She lives about 5 miles from my nephew!  It was so good to see her.

I'm not happy about the weather forecast for this week.  Come on, it's almost March.  Melt this crap!

Grandma nana - Nice to meet you!  preBUDs wow!  It is nice that he knows someone else going thru the same things.

Hudsonville - that is where our high school was for their State Track finals in 2013 that my youngest son participated.

morning ladies,  I've been reading these comments since my son left for boot camp on Jan 14.  Time for me to introduce myself.   We live in Hudsonville and he is our youngest of three children.   His best friend and high school buddy is two months ahead of him in A school - preBUDS...mine will be heading there also after PIR on March 14.  We are lucky to be able to have his buddy escort us around the base when we get there in 18 day!!!!   Patiently waiting for SPRING,  diana

Colleen - After the wind advisory of today ends, it should be sunny and 30s Saturday.  Back roads are bad - terrible job of plowing, like our subdivision.  Excessive potholes everywhere!!!

Comment by Lorraine on February 21, 2014 at 9:57am

Other than a wind advisory for practically all of Michigan, including A2, there isn't supposed to be any significant snow today, just flurries. It's supposed to be mostly sunny around 5 pm. Accuweather says windy with clouds and sun on Saturday and only 3% precipitation. Winds will be calmer. Looks like the type of weather I would chance either late this afternoon or tomorrow. Good luck!

What's it like now?  What's the forecast for today?  fShould I leave this afternoon or tomorrow morning?

Colleen, I hope you make it to A2 to see the quilt auction. Good thing you didn't have to got Thursday. What a day!
