Kathy - yay for your daughter coming home for the christening!

Ruth - be careful driving the next couple of days.  Good thing you didn't have to drive today.

This rain and melting has me concerned for the roofs.  Too much snow pack.  This spring is going to be a mess.  Hope no water gets in the basement.  Okay all of you that live east of GR towards A2.  Fri-Sun., what is the weather forecast?  With all the melting, then cold temps, refreeze and more snow, at least over here, I'm a little freaked out about the travel back and forth.  I'd like to see the auction on the quilt and go to the dinner, but not at the expense of sliding off the road.  What do you think?

Such good news to hear, Dunesmom, Marianne, KathyB, Ruth.

Like you all, I am looking forward to some warmer weather this week, even if it's only for a short while.  Getting tired of shoveling snow, and it's getting harder to lift that snow--those piles are so high!

Colleen, excited to hear about your quilt going up for auction.  Hope you make it there.

Ruth, my son is deployed now, but no packages--he's on a sub.  Thank you for doing that, though!

Dunesmom, great milestone for your son. So happy for his progress. Were you able to find his pinning online anywhere? Some moms seems to be pretty successful at finding those things.

Marianne, what a great experience with your daughter before deployment.

Kathy B, Excited for the grandbaby's christening and your DD to be home with all of you. That's great.

Hang in there, everyone. This winter has some surprises in it yet. I'm not sure what to think about Thursday's forecast of heavy rain and then back to the deep freeze. Ugh. Some of you remember Uli - well she loves winter, not tired of it yet. I don't know how she does it.

I was supposed to go somewhere this morning but the overnight snow kept me home. I did enjoy the sunshine we had today and it's nice to have this temporary warm up.

Dunesmom, conragts for you and your son.

Loved the US Navy Vet story.  My son has only been in for a year and half but already is true for him in alot of ways.

Marianne, was glad to hear you were able to be with Katie before she deployed.  How exciting to actually see her ship.

Congratulation to you and Dune!  How exciting!

Ruth, glad your ankle is getting better and that you don't have to drive in that crap tomorrow.  It's getting old - very old.

Marianne, so happy that you got to spend time with Katie.  Sorry you didn't get to see it depart.  Aren't those ships amazing?  I'm with Ruth, how do that not sink?!  And those racks - so small.  If you are claustrophobic, heaven help you.  You need a map just to figure out where you are.

Lorraine, I'll take any kind of melting!  But it looks like it's going to re-freeze.  This winter is too long.

Hopefully, I'll be going to A2 this weekend to see my quilt go up for auction.  This stupid weather might stop me.  If I have to, I'll leave Friday afternoon.

Enjoy the roads and no snow for the next 5ish hours!

Bittersweet weekend in Norfolk.  It was wonderful to spend the time with Katie, and even better when her department was given Friday off.  Katie said 'Hope you don't mind, but I want to get everything on board Friday, so we may have to take 2 trips to the ship.'  I was sooooo disappointed - not!  We finally got to bed at midnight and woke up at 3 am.  Katie was to be on board and her department was to muster at 5:`15 am!  I had hoped to watch the ship depart at 10:30a, but it was delayed. I got a text from Katie as her friend was dropping me off at the airport for my 4:30 p flight.  There were others posting pics and video, so at least I got to see it thru other's eyes.

Wow been gone to long from you all!  Good news on the injured healing.  Yes I agree thank God in a seat and not the box as Ruth said.  Finely can share with you all that Dune got his wings pinned this weekend!  He has been waiting and waiting.  Papers were lost and re submitted and who knows where they went.  anyway he was happily surprised when at the pinning ceremony last night that he was called and pinned.  If you Sailor has been through this then you know what happened next.  Don't want to say how he is feeling but the boot that he had, had been to the desert on 3 deployments.  I'm so happy for him that he was finely able to take part of this ceremony.  Enjoy the sunshine that is upon us.  Spring is coming.  It really is:)  Hugs Ladies

Ruth, I enjoyed your update. Don't worry about that soapbox, some may not know that they should see a private doctor after the comp doctor diagnosis. My husband says the same thing. Boo on being sick and agreed we didn't need another snow storm. I'm happy to report this is an equal opportunity winter and those storms went south for a change (although I do feel bad for them getting ice).

I hope that corpsman fights to see his kid(s). I wonder if the "wife" was spending his paychecks while he was fighting for our country. Hopefully she didn't run him into debt before calling it quits.

Colleen, we might be experiencing the pleasant smell of melting snow soon. I hope that perks you up!
