I forgot to mention in all my excitement that my son is the Drill flag carrier for 076 at PIR. He volunteered a few days ago after something didn't work out with the original one and he worked for two days straight and practiced and got it. I will have no problems finding him now when he walks in! :o)

Thank you. He already sounds like a new young man. I almost didn't recognize him when he called. :)

Yes PIR is Friday. I am beyond excited to see my only baby!!

Christine, congrats to your sailor. Is PIR this coming Friday? I'm sure you cannot wait to see your son.
Ruth, what a nice perk to be able to use the pool after the early run. I'm paying to use the one in Marshall but not making it regularly because of the weather.
Kathy, I would be so disappointed to travel to TX and have the weather be so cold, but it was for a good cause.
Yvette, I'm so sorry for all the unfortunate events for your son. I hope he gets to take care of his car.

I got my "I'm a Sailor" call today! So proud :)

tysmom, the irony of having to be plowed out to use the snow blower! What a hoot.

Comment by Lorraine on January 27, 2014 at 12:46pm

yvette, is your son still qualifying on his boat? Hopefully his chief will find a better way to help these young sailors learn their jobs. I'll be praying for your son.

Marianne, hoping for a break in the weather so Katie's travel isn't hindered! Sounds like the weekend will be milder.

I was out shoveling my mailbox for the carrier when a farmer came along and plowed our driveway - yay! I think we got quite a surprise this morning with 6 new inches of snow! Wasn't expecting that. We had gotten 3" already from just flurries the few previous days. I didn't mind being housebound for my birthday. When I retired I said was looking forward to winters where I could watch the snow from my living room, but I really didn't want THIS much snow to keep an eye on! Seems like we don't get "average" anymore - it's either too little or too much. :-)

Definitely a soup day here in Michigan!!!! The weather people did not call this one right, much more snow overnight than was expected. Our driveway had to be plowed before my boys could get out to shovel/snow blow....is there some humor in that???

We need to face-time our sailor and show him the snow.

Lorraine, sorry to hear about your hand.  This weather has to break before we set a date.  I don't want anyone trying to get somewhere and get into an accident.

yvette, sorry to hear about your son.  Praying for peace for you and him.

Dunesmom and Ruth - have a great day off and probably for the next 2 days.

Marianne - enjoy Katie being home.  There's never enough time.  Thank her for her service.  Congrats for Thomas competing with all those big schools.  That's not bad.
