Absolutely beautiful, Colleen. If the bids don't run high on this quilt then something is wrong.
Have to agree about the weather. I hope we get a break real soon! Our daughter had us over last night for my birthday ( which is today). Had a great time snuggling the grand baby. He's 5 weeks old now and such a sweet little guy. The county roads weren't too bad but the wind was causing drifting and blind spots on the way home. We got several inches of snow overnight. Might just stay home today.

Hope everyone is surviving the latest installment of this stupid weather.  I am NOT amused by the 2-3+ foot snowdrifts.  Here is a picture of the quilt I made that is going up for live auction in Ann Arbor next month.  I hope the weather cooperates so I can be there.  I hope it goes for a good chunk of change for the fundraiser.

Dunesmom, I'm thinking of you as Dune heads out.

Lorraine I know you are over the moon over that new grand baby!!! Sounds like he is just right for snuggling, awww

I got to see Colleen's quilt and it is just beautiful!  lots of work for sure but such a great job Colleen!  Daughter heard from Dune he is headed out once more but just a short one, I hope.  Maybe we will get to hear from him.  Take care and stay warm, warm warm Ladies;)

Colleen, can't wait to see a picture of the quilt. 200 hours made it quite the project!
Kathy C, thanks for the PIR link.
I visited the new grand baby this week. He's 1 month old, weighs 12#, and was all smiles for grandma. Can't wait to see him again.

We were at PIR October of 10.  Gosh it still brings tears to my eyes when I think about it.  Awesome!  Tissues yes lots and lots of tissues.  I bawled and didn't feel odd at all as all the other moms and yes some dad too were bawling right along with me.  I have connected with so very many wonderful fellow moms in the past 3 1/2 years.  It's so wonderful.  So Welcome!  ask, share and enjoy the journey.

Welcome to all of the new N4M's!  I'm with everyone else - ask for 1 more ticket.  There's got to be those who don't use all of their tickets.

My son has been in since July '09 and is and Operations Specialist 2.  I loved PIR.  Bring lots of tissues.  It's just amazing.  When you hear and see the big garage door opening and all you first see are their shoes and little by little the door goes up  . . ..  . it just gives you goose bumps and you can't breathe.

Well, I finished the quilt I'm giving my cousin to auction off next month.  I will post a picture.  It took somewhere around 200 hours to do.  Now that it's done, I'll be on more.  Stay warm you guys, another blast is coming.

Kathy B - That thought had crossed my mind about finding a local Navy Mom.  Also, I was wondering about one of the churches that host the sailors for Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc., maybe there is someone from one of those congregations. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to find that out. Katie was adopted by another sailor's aunt for Thanksgiving.

Welcome bizibon. Make yourself at home here and ask questions/share about your family and sailor often. Boot Camp is really rough on us moms so it's easier when we have one another. My son entered the Navy in February 2009. He's part of a submarine crew now.

PrdNavyBlueMom - speak up for your entire family to be at PIR. I hope there is a way to make it happen. Talk to your son's recruiter about it. I'm not sure how much leverage your SR might have by mentioning it. I hope it all works out.

PrdNavyBlueMom-Oh, I wouldn't know what I would have done back at PIR if everyone couldn't be there, but then Thomas is my youngest, so I could have left one of my older children alone at the hotel and picked them up afterward. Hope you can figure something out by PIR so you can all be together......

MarianneKT's Mom, Thank you for the welcome. I feel very connected to all the moms who are so proud but missing their SR. About to watch the Broncos/Partriots game without my most colorful commentator, but I'm taking notes to share with him.
