Oh and PKM - my son and DIL are in Burton. They bought a new house there almost 1 year ago. We've been fortunate enough to visit once over the summer - had a great time and had fun helping them do "honey-do's" around their house.
Hi PKM! My sailor will miss his second Christmas and Birthday. He had leave over Thanksgiving instead of Christmas this year. Last year he had to quarantine thanks to COVID and spent it in a hotel room alone in Virginia. We are usually daily text/Snapchat when he is in port. And when out it was daily emails even if they are a short two word message. I don’t know if I will ever get used to things being this way but he has been in since July 2020
Hi PKM. My son and DIL are the ones that live in MI. They're both Navy vets - moved back to MI to help out with her mom when they got out of the Navy and we are in CA so we don't get to see them as often as we would like. Although they did just fly out for Thanksgiving which was wonderful! I talk to my DIL multiple times a week and we usually talk to the both of them together (often FaceTime) at least once a week. I doubt that they will ever move back to CA (too expensive) but at some point I'll be happy just to have them come further West lol! Especially when it comes time for grandbabies ;-D We've been fortunate that they take the time to call and keep us updated on life - of course it's a little easier now since they are out of the Navy....
I'm always here to lend support in any way I can. I'm one of the admins on the site so I'm checking in every day ;-D
Once a Navy mom, Always a Navy mom!
Happy Holidays to you too!
Hi to all the Michigan Navy Mom’s. Do you miss being within hugging distance to your sailor? Do you hate missing your sailor? Do you need an sympathetic ear? Let’s try to support each other, especially this time of year.
I have a son, with my daughter in law and granddaughter serving out in Washington State. I miss them daily, think of them often. How do you stay in touch and feel connected?
Happy Holidays!
