To the3dsmom: I hope your son gets his orders and you get some holiday time with him. Scott only has a 5 day weekend and it doesn't look promising for Christmas so this will be our holiday with him.
Here's a question for anyone who cares to answer. I could have saved $200 on the flight if Scott could have taken an early morning flight, but he can't leave base until after they muster between 8 and 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day! Why would they require this on a holiday?

Scott gets to come home for Thanksgiving! At last, a chance to catch up and find out when he'll finish prototype and what's next. Flights aren't cheap but I was happy to find non-stop here and back. Can't wait!

NATIONAL ANTHEM AT EAGLES GAME..Tired of all those "recording stars" singing the national anthem? Here's what our military can do.

Thanks for your posts to MILori - I've changed my user name to LoLo Ship 03 Div 024; yes, I've made some progress since my last post. I've received my boy in a box and also the PIR packet. 1 week down and 7 to go!

Jaz04 (ship 12, div 260) Hang in their sweetie. When you start to feel sad remember what a good thing the Navy is and that they taught he to clean and do laundry!!

My son called me at work to let me know he was cleaning up his room & doing his laundry so he can make sure he has all packed and not forgetting anything. This is making reality of his leaving fall on me. I have been trying to ignore it so that the drive down date wouldn't come so fast.

Was reading through some of comments and found in common things with many of you. My son is a Nuke currently deployed. My youngest son is in school in Minnesota and my husband and I are empty nesters which has been really strange miss the football games and wrestling matches. It seems when my son comes home our house is alive again too kids everywhere. Guess its good to know we are not alone.

Jaz04 (ship 12, div 260--love the last line. I know what you mean. My daughters homecoming was last Sat. and some of the friends that she and her brother have in common came over to see her in her dress (brother stand ins). Two of them came over for dinner on Sunday. They laid on the floor and watched pictures of Dannys going away party. THE HOUSE WAS ALIVE WITH NOISE. :) Miss crawling over 5 or 6 boys in the morning on my way to work.

Boy, I had quite the reading to do to catch up with you all. I have been out of the loop since I headed to MS to watch my son graduate A school 10/19. I have been so happy since because he was able to come home with us. But time is drawing near and we will be heading back to MS (in his truck) and I will have to fly back solo :( It has been great having him home even though he has been hanging out with every one but mom. The house came alive again with his stuff laying around everywhere (some things the Navy can't change) lol.
