Hi Michigan moms, haven't been on in awhile. My son is underway at the moment. Hoping for some warmer weather. Need to clean up the yard, but a bit too wet and cool for me. Have a great week.

Thanks, karent.

Keep the orchard suggestions coming. We can decide whether we want to do Charlotte or Grand Rapids depending on those willing to come, as there are lots of choices.

Lorraine, an orchard visit sounds like a great idea!  Good luck on your son's surgery!!!  Safe travels to you!

Hey Yvette - Yup, I have received some letters. He often sounds down, hoping for a change in the next one. What's got you so busy?

Happy Tuesday Moms!

Anyone that is on Facebook, there is a michigan navy mom page. But it is secret right now. I think it was due to some hacking of other navy groups. But if you are friends with someone on Facebook that is on that page, you can be added!

Hi Guys!  I finally remembered how to sign in from another location.  I'm in FL celebrating my Momma's 80th BD.  The St. John's location or the Charlotte sound good.  Depends on the date.  I can check into orchards in GR area.  Robinette's in GR or Klackles in Greenville come to mind.

Welcome to all the newbies.

Dunesmom, how are you?

Anyone hear from CathieRenee?

The activities listed below are at Country Mill.

How about an apple orchard activity in October? I found the Country Mill, 4648 Otto Rd, Charlotte MI (south of Lansing) and there is Uncle John's Cider Mill on 127 north of Lansing. Both have activities.

Saturday, October 4th: Haunted Cider Mill, Haunted House for Kids, Haunted Orchard Hayride, Corn Maze, Train Rides to the Orchard from 1-5 pm. Apple Picking, Petting Zoo, & Pumpkin picking from 11 am- 6 pm.

Sunday, October 5th: Haunted Cider Mill, Haunted House for Kids, Haunted Orchard Hayride and Train Rides to the Orchard from 1-5 pm. Apple Picking, Petting Zoo, Corn Maze, Train Rides to the Orchard from 1-5 pm., Pumpkin picking from 11 am- 6 pm.

And the same for each weekend of the month. Also this:

Sunday, October 26th: PICK A PECK FOR PEOPLE!  God has blessed us with apples to harvest.  From 1-5 pm come pick a bag of apples for those in need and receive a complimentary hayride or corn maze ticket.  This event is free of charge.  All apples picked are donated to the Mid-Michigan Food Bank and the St. Vincent DePaul Food Bank who will have a truck on hand to haul away all the apples that you pick.  This is a great family or group event.  From 1-5pm you can enjoy the Haunted Cider Mill, Haunted House for Kids, Corn Maze, Train Rides to the Orchard. Apple Picking, Petting Zoo, & Pumpkin picking from 11 am. - 6 pm.

Welcome kristinesoblessed. My son completed nuke schooling in early 2011 and has already signed up for 3 more years so he's in until 2018. He is also submarine and was deployed on a fast attack sub but plans to switch to boomer when he moves to WA in December. He's married now with a baby on the way. There is also a Nuke Moms group on Facebook if you are interested.

Yvette, thanks for asking. Surgery is scheduled for September 19th and I will be getting there on the 18th. I leave Michigan the 12th as I have a trip to NJ first (convention), then up to Maine to see the kids.

I've really enjoyed the summer and spent all afternoon out in the yard today. Days like this won't be around much longer.

I've thought about setting up a get together in Lansing in October. Let me see what I can find out. If anyone has any suggestions for Lansing or Grand Rapids, feel free to jump in.
