MarianneKT'sMom, Ugh, too much snow. There is still ice in our pond.  My husband went out and broke some of it up.  We think it is because it doesn't get any sun in the one area.  Hopefully, today it will be gone.  High 60's--Yeah.  Have a good one ladies.

This is how it looks for Alicia right now up in Sault Ste Marie!

Dang Lorraine, it gave me goosebumps.  I love that song.  We have it our hymnal and I ask to have it sung once in a while.  Makes me cry everytime.  Dunesmom - pass the tissues please!  Good to hear from everyone. Dunesmom and I have been talking and we are up for a road trip.  Lansing at Denny's (where you had it Lorraine) is a good middle spot, but we will go to A2.  Gives me a reason to stop at the fabric store on Jackson Rd.

Is everyone loving the melt down?  I AM!!!  I've never smiled so much.

Hugs to you all!

Kim F, hopefully get-togethers will be planned soon on the west side and the east side. If I can I will attend both as I'm kind of in the middle (southern middle).

Yvette, I don't blame you for spending as much time as possible with your son who is still at home. We do miss our sailors and there's little we can do about it. They get so doggone independent once they're through their schooling :-)

Kathy B, my hubby has been cutting wood, resting, reading, listening to music, and helping the neighbors. He putters outside for awhile then comes in and relaxes. We both enjoy life being less structured. I have a lot of projects at the moment that involve grandkids, postmasters, and Lions but I'm trying to slow down some of my non-family involvements.

Anyone have a suggestion for a meeting place in Ann Arbor? We like Zingerman's but I'm sure there are many options.

Have any more plans been made for a get together? I work in GR, but live in Cedsr Springs. My son is deployed on the USS Roosevelt.

Has there ever been a get together in Ann Arbor?
Sharon, it's good to hear from you. Sounds just like the Navy to keep you guessing as to whether or not your son could be home. So glad it all worked out. Congrats to your daughter for enlisting in the Navy and good luck to all your kids - with three in the military family gatherings will be even more precious in the future. Sounds like you're adjusting to the kids' coming and going.
I've been working part-time at a tax preparer's office in Tekonsha. Kind of glad that will soon end but when she asked I was willing. It's good for the brain and only a few miles from home.
My husband retired March 28th so we've completed one week of this new adventure. Now we can go see the grandbaby together and we look forward to Michigan travel throughout the summer.
Hoping it starts to feel like spring son!

Hello Everyone!! It has been so long since I have been around, so sorry for that. Life is busy and I am more on Facebook than here.

Welcome to all the new Moms!!!! Glad you are here with us!

KathyB, love seeing the pictures of the grand daughter and baptism. Don't all babies cry during church and these type of events. lol So glad you had the family together for a bit. Hope you had a wonderful bridal shower!!!

Michimom, great picture of your Sailor!! So happy that you received a call and able to chat for quite some time! That is always special

Ruth, hope your ankle feels better soon. That is not fun at all.

Lorraine, the trip sounds like fun, though not in the winter! lol We were in DC once during January for a business meeting years ago and it was freezing with snow. We still went site seeing until we couldn't walk anymore. I would love to go back one day.

I am not sure when I was here last, it has been that long!! Our youngest son headed to boot camp for the Marines in December, graduated in mid March, came home on leave and we surprised him with our Navy son!! It was such a blessing to have both boys home together! They had not seen each other in 15 months, so we were glad our Navy son could get leave. It was touch and go for a while and he didn't get his leave approved until the day before. We were able to have some family pictures taken, I have a couple that have been edited and still waiting on the rest. Our daughter is about done with high school, about 7 weeks left and she is so glad. She really has been done with school since it started. She wants to graduate and head to the Navy, she ships in the fall. We are trying to get used to it being the two of us. We have never had that, we had my oldest son when we met and married, then we had our three younger ones. So, to not have any kids after all these years is a bit weird. We will have to learn what it is to be a couple and I will have to learn that my kids don't need me like they used to. Our relationships will evolve into something different. We loved having all the commotion in the house with people coming and going with the boys home, but it was nice when it was just us again. We appreciate our visits that much more!! All part of them growing and moving on to great things!!

So nice to hear about the baptism and all the kids together, Kathy!

Dunesmom, I get you on the lack of information.  Just chatted with my son yesterday and it's funny how we talk without sharing any details about what's happening.  Frustrating, too.

I'm up for a road trip, too!  Would love a get-together.

Comment by Colleen on March 29, 2014 at 6:22pm

Wow Kathy! All the kids in one spot.  That sure doesn't happen often, does it anymore?  When the baby cries during Baptism, I always think that the devil ain't happy!

So tragic about the Sailor on the Mahan.

I'm up for a road trip!  Just came back from the Detroit area - Kathy I was out by you - and very little snow.  Potholes, but little snow to worry about.

Dunesmom - a BIG N4M hug for you.  I understand the feeling about something happening.  Sometimes we don't want to know.  ((((()))))
