I was in Washington DC from Saturday afternoon until Wednesday morning, looking forward to springlike weather. But NO, the snow had to follow me out there and they got 6-8" on Sunday evening. The government was shut down Monday so that meant no Marine Band to play for our opening ceremony (postmaster legislative conference). At least the Capitol was open for our legislative visits on Tuesday. We're trying to keep the Postal Service open for business. Had a great time with other postmasters and retired postmasters and good weather for travel both ways (we drove).

Nice pic of your sailor, Michimom and glad you had the long talk.

Ruth, you're having a year, please get well.

Kathy B, enjoy the visit of your DD, the baptism, and a wedding shower. You've got a lot going on right now!

Ruth, hope you are feeling better soon.  Yes, I am ready for Spring.  There were some snowflakes out earlier today.  BOO!!

Michimom, don't you just love when you can talk that long to them.  Great Pic.  Looks like he is enjoying himself.

Michimom - Great pic! I'm sure it was wonderful seeing him AND hearing from him.  Glad he was able to talk for so long!

My sailor celebrating St. Paddy's Day with some green beer at his port of call.  And I got a 55-minute phone call today.  Happy mama!  :)

Ruth, sorry to hear about your ankle.  I hope you don't need surgery.  Every time it snows, I think & pray for you and your driving that bus in it.  I heard that today is the equinox.  Equal amount of time for daylight/night.  Glad about that.  Also heard that if we have 1" of snow or more on the ground until April 5, we will set another record.  This past Sat. I was finally able to run outside without the fear of slipping on ice.  It's supposed to snow on Wed. & Fri. night into Sat.  I have a 15K on Sat.  Not happy about running in snow.  Have I stated that I hate winter lately?

Kathy, glad you were able to drive across the state in good weather and see the in-laws.  Hope all  goes well for the baptism and shower.

Picking up our daughter from the airport on Sun. She has been in Montana for the past 8 days skiing.  I guess she thought there was not enough snow here.  Texted her about the "blizzard" on Wed and she responded "Big Deal" Montana had 23" overnight on Mon. No thank you.  I know her and her friends had fun, and it was nice having the house to just me and my husband but it will be good to have her home.

Think Spring.

Ruth, hope your ankle is better.  If you do need surgery at least you have the summer off to recoup. Hope the bus drivers aren't too shaken up.  One thing to be in an accident by yourself another to have all those kids with you. My husband was able to take down the Christmas decor outside today. I am surprised it didn't blow away yesterday with all the high wind we had.

Have a great weekend ladies.

We also got about 8". I'm glad our Grand Rapids ladies didn't suffer this time. It amazes me that the weather in this state can be so different just an hour or two away. I've been listening to the weather channel and Monday does not sound good in D.C. But I can still hope! Michimom, it is still possible for Detroit to break that record, but I sure hope Grand Rapids doesn't get that much more snow!
