Hi Lisa, thanks for the info. I look forward to the meeting this spring. I've never been to Texas in August, but lived in Oklahoma in the summer so know what you mean by that. lol

Hello, Lisa! I see that you are from Jackson County too! Yahoo! I don't know of any other moms from my neck of the woods. I am originally from Jackson, but am currently living in Cass County. It would be great to meet you someday.

Hi everybody! I am so happy to have found that there is a Michigan Moms group. I'm not a "new" Navy Mom. My son has been in the Navy for over 1 yr, but I am new to this website. It is so great to know that there are so many others out there who can relate to my feelings and experiences. I hope to meet and get to know lots of you. I am so proud of my son and how much he has grown and matured! I also have a son-in-law (who is more like a son to me) that has been in the Air Force for 9 years. I couldn't be prouder of them both. It is going to be really hard this Christmas though. I son isn't coming home for the first time at Christmas. I hope and pray that wherever he goes that he feels love and welcome from the family he will be spending it with. Please pray for him and me that we can get through this.

Yes Dawn, my nephew is the reservists and has not been able to find other work in MI since returning from A school so he is back at Busch's. He worked there for a number of years before joining the Navy. You may know him, he's the good looking kid!

Meet and Greet sounds like it was a great morning. I'm going to try to coordinate a trip back to MI and join you at one!

Angie, you may be a blubbering idiot but it doesn't matter! When we arrived at graduation, they called our son out in the hallway so we could have a few private moments together. I absolutely gasped when I seen him and then I cried and i cried thru most of the ceremony but they were happy tears and that's just how I am..

The night before when we landed and called our son, he said...now mom, you are going to be good in the morning right???? I said...I don't think the balloons and noise makers that I'm bringing will be a problem...will they?!!! :-D

Thank you Lisa, graduation was awesome. I just had not seen our son since his PIR eight months ago - so it was just a great trip! Yes, it was cold for us southerners, it was negative 7 degrees and it snowed a few inches yesterday but it was beautiful.

Dawn, sue is part of the site but doesn't come on like she used to. Her son is a reservist and now that he has completed his A school and is back at home, she just doesn't spend as much time on line as she used to. Do you know Bush's grocery store - my nephew works there. Sue did not make it to the meet and great as my nephew turned 21 yesterday so they had a family gathering for his b-day.

Hi Erika's mom,

Please come if at all possible. I have really enjoyed our chats and would love to meet you in person. What time is the DEP meeting? Is that in the office in Troy? Anyway, again would love to meet you so let me know even if you do not finish until after 11am you can call me. Just let me know if I should send you my cell phone number, okay?

Wish I was in town to join you for the gathering, I am emailing my sister to let her know about the event. Her son is a Seabee and she lives in Pickney but when I talked to her on Tuesday, the snow was pretty heavy out by her house and she wasn't even sure she could get to work the next day or two. My dad lives in Belleville and it was clear by him yesterday but he was looking for snow last night too - did you get snow last night?
Comment by Mary, Proud Mom of Nick on December 3, 2008 at 10:18am
Lisa, I hope we have a gentle snowfall on Christmas eve as well - nothing is prettier!!!

However it looks like I'm going to see some REAL snow this week...I'm going to Great Lakes on Thursday!!! Have not seen our favorite sailor in 8 months and he is graduating from A school on Friday!!!! Don't care how cold it is...momma is gonna be there!

woohoo...we got snow in Atlanta today!!! Okay, so it ended before I could even put on my shoes and go out to see it but it was pretty ...for the moment or two that it lasted!
