Pretty Poem Lisa and although I would agree winters in Michigan can be beautiful (at times) I don't miss my snow shovel or the bags of ice or getting stuck in the snow.

That would be Selfrige ANGB in Clinton Twp. which is just north of me. Congrats on your sons graduation. I know it does seem longer than it is (BC) but wait till you see the young man they give back to you. They are more poised and self assured, and like with my son who slimmed down and bulked up w/muscle they come out looking gooood...I have a hot son!!!....LOL ...Watch out ladies!

Sorry I was thinking of when James was in "A" school and he came home for Christmas.

From what i have heard BC closed down for the holiday and they have to but in a leave chit. As for getting them home I found Southwest Air has a great Military Rate but you have call the reservation line to ask for it, make the reservation in your sailors name (double check spelling, they are very strict). This is faster than Amtrac and I found it to be almost the same price, and we had more time together. Just make sure they have enough time to get from GL to the air port. Have them check for a shuttle from base, they might have one run if there are enough sailors going to the airport. If not then it is about 1 to 1 1/2 hour ride to Town then a cab from there. If taking cab there are probably a lot of others going, so have them post for rides now they may get lucky and find another sailor coming by their town and can drop off for gas $$.

One thing I did with missing my daughter is that I started writing her letters and then sent them as soon as I rec'd her address. It helped me a great deal.

I found out later that she works in the mail room, so she looks forward to the letters and sees them just about every day.

On Thanksgiving they have adopt a sailor - I didn't hear the final plans for my daughter. If one of Katie's shipmates parents do come, they were planning to adopt her, otherwise it would be with a church family.

I'm sure someone on this site has gone thru Thanksgiving and Christmas in bootacmp like your daughter will be. We are wondering if she will be able to have time off from 'A' school to be with us for Christmas....her birthday is just days before Christmas as well.
