Let me check with Chapter 7 of North Metro Blue Star Moms and I will get back to you.
MidwestNavyMom, I'm sorry to hear of your mom's injuries! Moving parents to a supervised environment is a big, big change, whether they come to live with us or into a facility.
JJ or Carol, would either of you be able to take holiday cards or help me find a BSA mom that would take them please? Preferably in the north metro?
I've also been touring assisted living places with my mom. She fell twice this summer. Broke her arm the first and got a gash on her head the second. I'm up for lunch sometime too! The school year is off to a busy start!!
Hey. JJ, there is no law against answering emails at 3:45 am. We do what we can. I spent the morning touring an assisted living facility with my mom so I sympathize with you.
Are any of you involved with Blue Star Mothers of MN? I'm asking because I'm doing a holiday greeting cards for troops project at work and need an organization to give them to for distribution. I know someone said they were involved, but can't remember who. JJ, I seem to remember that it might have been you.
Here I am at 3:45 a.m. answering my emails...I cannot make it on the 5th since I have an appointment for my mom that day. This entire next week and the next will be crazy! Starting with the close on my mom's house to packing for our trip to Florida. Taking care of my 92 year old mom is very much like caring for a small child in an adult body. Although it is very draining, I love doing it for my mom. She never complains about anything, including my cooking, so I am lucky there!! I thank God that we can afford the licensed care provider to come in once or twice a week to give us a break, and help mom with her baths. I also thank God for my Navy Moms. I will just have to try a Saturday to meet with you all. I'll be back in town, well rested on the 24th of October.
JJ, I remember you saying that your mom was going to move in with you. I'm glad you are able to take care of her. As a partial caregiver (my mom doesn't live with me, but I'm her only child so when she needs something it's up to me) I'm learning that I have to take good care of myself, too. Hope that both of us can juggle our mothers' needs and keep our needs taken care of, too. SaltyMama, I saw the post about Nov.5. I work until 1:00 that day, but could join in late. JJ, I'm out of town this Sat. Sorry. Can you make it on the 5th?
I saw on Facebook that some moms are meeting for lunch at MOA on Saturday November 5. They plan to eat lunch and then break into groups and shop after (if you want obviously). Just thought I would get this out there. I will post more when I see details. I think they said they would meet at 1:00 but I don't have an exact location within the mall yet.
I am ready for a Navy Mom Fix my self however I now have a Full time job, 24/7. I am now caring for my Mom and have been since August 21st. The time frame got moved up by a few months, so things had been moving really quickly around here. In the middle of everything, Ted and I have a Florida Trip planned for October that would cost us more to cancel than not. We won't be back until the 24th. Now I am really gonna need a Navy Mom Fix!! So I only have this coming up Saturday open. Otherwise, I am looking at nearly a month or more.
It's Saturday morning, Sept. 17th and I'm at work. For some reason it feels like a "Navy Mom" day. I wish we were having lunch together today. Anybody up for a get together one of these Saturdays? Maybe Oct. 1?
